OK so i move this from General Discussion to here
Current position is
unpacked it - well packed
Read the Instructions - hell whats going on there :D - this is the draft manual but its pretty good and those who are familiar with the UP Plus wont have any issues
Its a little vague re the nozzle height set up and thats where I have had issues - a bit disappointing as thats where I had issues with the UP Plus (not auto detecting version)
Installed UP software so running ver 2.14
Anyway I'll work on that
Ran set up extrude etc - all good - feed is still not as "connected" as I would like and took a little manual intervention to get it going
Ran a test print - nothing came out of the nozzle
re ran auto level and nozzle height
back to extrude - seems OK
Re ran test appears nozzle is set too low and is in contact with the perf board
re ran auto level and nozzle height
in the mean time the platform temp was still heating - running some time tests today to see how long it takes to get to temp
in the end ran out of time and went to bed
Back at it today so I'll let you know
Cheers
Joe

Is this a "beta" version, or is someone actually selling it now?

I'm very jealous! :D

I tried to get one for my 3D printing workshops but due to overwhelming demand I have to wait for my reseller :(

I saw 3D printing systems had software version 2.14, how do they always have it before PP3DP/TierTime haha. Are there any significant changes or is it for the Up Box?

Can't wait to test the new machine and see it in real life, I hope it gets here soon now I see other people can buy it..

It's a little sad when the reseller is more on the ball than the parent company.

"The first 50 pre-orders were sent out on Tuesday", if they sent them from China it takes perhaps a while when they arrive...

Nope sent from New Zealand as I understand it.

The 50 was split between Australia and a few into New Zealand. If you have an UP BOX please try out the new Windows v2.15 available here
http://3dprintingsystems.com/download-3 ... -software/ also the manual has been updated and I would appreciate any feedback on it.

Hi Bruce,

Can you tell us what improvements are in 2.14 and now 2.15? Are these just specific to the box? It would be good to know since they are not on this site and there are no blog updates.

The 2.15 is to support the UP BOX features, auto levelling etc.

If you have multiple UPs, you can use 2.15 to name your UP to manage them.

Inquiring minds want to know....

What's the performance like? Does it live up to the speed/quality we've been led to expect?
What print head design does it use? Will we be able to re-use our temp mods?
Does the "box" part of the Box actually hold in the heat to reduce warping, or is mostly for show?

I tried it out on a weekend so I have limited experience to write a "review" per say. still my impression is that it has the same quality as the upplus 2 but with a bigger platform. I liked the connection of the plate with the screws much better than the little springs of the upplus, for those worried about printing on the screws you can tape a small square of kapton tape. wrapping was minimal but I must admit that I didn't put it to a contest between the box and the plus2. very quiet and no odors when printing abs is a big plus to me since in use it at home. another improvements is that the extruder can detach easily (magnets) so theoretically you could have one for abs and one for pla without the trouble of moving from abs to pla (special fillaments fila flex, metal, wood ect.). all in all has all the advantages of the plus2 just bigger.

has anyone figured out what the three buttons on the right side are for except for turning on the light? and where can one get hold of the manual?

With regards to the clip in perfboard / platform screws the new Windows UP 2.15 software fixes that, so you don't need to worry about covering the screws. http://3dprintingsystems.com/download-3 ... -software/

To tell you what the buttons do, you should have a inside cover helper (goes under the top door), get this printed onto adhesive vinyl (it gets too hot in the UP BOX for regular paper stickers as it will peel off)
