Turn the lights on, will ya?!

Post by Rootz » Fri May 24, 2013 8:48 pm

Guys,

I see no mention of this in the manual but I did notice some LED's mounted around the extruder head and wired into the main ribbon cable. I assume they're supposed to come on when the unit is printing but, no joy. I've buzzed the wires through and no problems there so I can only guess there's something I have to do, like press the button while I turn the unit on and simultaneously stand on one leg while humming the theme from Dirty Dancing and doing a Popeye impression. I tried that. Didn't work.

Any ideas??

Cheerz!

Wrong wrong wrong, you have to hum the national anthem of the People's Republic of China.

Or you double click (like on a mouse button) on the on/off switch after you power the printer on. Can be done directly after power UP ;)

I had a Mini but have since switched to a Plus so this is from memory ... you have to double click the initialize button. It seems to want a specific double-click speed so there is a bit of a knack to it - once you've go it you can turn on and off easily though I don't recommend trying once a job has start as I did accidentally re-initialise a couple of times which killed my print.

Mucho thanks Matt and Roller,

Glad I can do it with the button; The Chinese National Anthem lasts 47 minutes! And that's the short version. :o

Why did this topic need a bump - was something left unanswered?

Thanks for this, I will try it tomorrow. Can't do it now because of a different firmware issue: if I turn it on, it will beep and wake up the missus.
While they're at it: the LEDs should turn on by themselves whenever you start doing something related to platform calibration.
