uptodate Firmware/ROM?

Post by msmn » Sat Jan 09, 2016 1:37 pm

some questions around Firmware/ROM of the UP! mini...(which I could not find in the Forum yet)
- how can I identify the installed Firmware Version?
- is there a more uptodate Firmware...and where can I find it please?
- how to upgrade the Firmware?

Did you ever resolve this issue.

It has been over a year since I used my up mini, the old laptop I used it with is no more.
I have found the latest software at 3dprintingsystems website 2.18 but I guess my ROM will be old.
It says to look in "C:\Program Files (x86)\UP\Driver\System" for ROMS but there are none there.
Where can I find the latest ROM compatible with 2.18 software?

the UP ROM does not contain any firmware.
It contains:
* IO port configuration (which cable goes to which motor/sensor/heater/...)
* Parameter sets 0.2mm / 0.25mm / 0.3mm ...
* ROM-Programs (e.g. the initialize program with the "wonderful" beep beep beep)

So the only advantage of a new "ROM" file "could" be that you get new parameter sets or beep sound will be disabled.
BUT, all newer UP Mini's with newer ROM files do not have any changes to that.

In case you are interested to get more out of your printer (set temperatures, use smaller layer heights, even use different nozzles) then please check out my G-Code transcoder. This will let you use any Slicer (e.g. Slic3r, Cura, Simplify3D, ...). It already has support for Mini / Classic / Plus / Box.
