PLA Printing

Post by mrgibbon » Mon Sep 28, 2015 10:05 am

Hi Guys, Can anyone using the software temp mod pls post the temps they are using to print with PLA?
I bought some aftermarket PLA to test, having no luck at the moment, just getting the dreaded clunks.

Thanks
Gib

Update.
I have again been trying all different temps with this PLA, no joy yet.
I have been able to get the PLA to extrude when using the Extrude command from the maintenance panel, but when I try printing, I get the clunks.
I presume thats from the motor being unable to push more material into the hot end.
its very weird, im close to giving up again :(

Apply a thin coat of Canola cooking oil on the first several inches of the PLA to see if it helps, it works for me.

Look at the Temp-Mod thread.
You need to find the LOWEST temperature for your kind of PLA, then slightly work upwards until you get good layer-bonding while keeping the filament as solid as possible before it enters the extruder.
You will also need additional fans for your extruder.
Also make sure you have GOOD filament. Not that cheap stuff that is crooking and bendy and not round.
