Up Mini Died

Post by smorey » Fri Feb 06, 2015 2:21 pm

Bought the Up Mini for Xmas.
Worked great except the platform doesn't heat.
Not a problem if smaller jobs are printed.
After about 10 days of use, the computer stated that it couldn't communicate with the printer.
I did a power cycle and the thing died.
Square light on the front is black.
Power supply is good and there are a couple of LED's illuminated on the board.
Checked all of the connections.
Any ideas?

Well since you say you just purchased it a few months ago, you are still under warranty. Warranty is good for 12 months from date of purchase.

If the machine is not communicating with your computer, it could mean that the CPU Board is dead and will require replacement.

Contact place of purchase to begin warranty claim process.

Bought it on Amazon from Octave.
They told me to take a hike.
Have a query into pp3dp support.
See what happens.

I am very doubtful Octave told you to "Take a hike" they are great at customer service and in many instances go out of their way to help even when it is not a "Warranty related" issue, their staff is prompt, courteous and knowledgeable.

Could it be that you bought a used printer without warranty and then demanded it be corrected at someone Else's expense?

I hope you get your issues sorted out and that you will take a second look at the circumstances and your comments.

Regards

I bought the printer new from Octave and they told me they wouldn't help me.
They said I had to go to the manufacturer.
From the reply to my post I was able to get with the Up folks in NY.
Had to send the board in and they mailed it back with a new processor about ten days later.
Works fine now.

I'm sorry but I do not believe you about Octave, I personally know them and have never heard this sort of thing before.
I'm sure that there was some sort of misunderstanding on your part, they have always been kind and have on many occasions gone far out of their way for customer service and support.
