Printing stopped half way

Post by lee » Sun Jan 11, 2015 6:34 am

I started off a print job last night, was supposed to take about 8hr.
When I checked this morning, it had stopped after what looked to be maybe a third of the way through. The bed had dropped down, model incomplete.

I tried to fire it up, and extrude produced nothing.
I assume the nozzle is blocked. I've only printed maybe 100g of ABS so far, is this normal? Is it normal to just block half way through a job? The incomplete model looked ok, looks like it just stopped dead.

Any thoughts?

I'm soaking the nozzle now.
Cheers

Probably is just a clogged nozzle. You can try to extrude without the nozzle attached and if the filament extrudes, then you will know for sure it was just a clogged nozzle.

Also it is a good idea to have an extra nozzle or two on hand in case of a clog.

Thanks - I've ordered a spare nozzle, initial one soaking in acetone now.
Should I wait until a blockage occurs, or maybe rotate nozzles and clean before it happens?
