Cleaning the Nozzle

Post by a_recording » Mon Sep 02, 2013 8:17 am

Hi! I'm curious as to the best way to clean the nozzle on the extruder head.

I have tried soaking the nozzle head in acetone, but some of the burnt on ABS takes a lot of soaking / rubbing to remove. I am concerned about doing this for too long because I am not sure if the acetone will have any effect on the rubber tubing that covers the electrical leads going into the nozzle. (I know the acetone will definitely effect the 3D printed parts of the extruder).

Does anyone have any advice in this regard?

Not sure why you are concerned about the cables!
You can unscrew the nozzle and leave it to soak .

acetone will not remove severely burnt abs as this has beco e carbon and must be removed "mechanically"

search other threads on this site for more cleaning details

cheers
