Detached build plate cable

Post by Rootz » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:35 am

Uh oh!

During a print, the thin ribbon cable running from the electronics to the build plate became detached at the build plate end. First thing I knew was a small flash!. On inspection I found that two of the connections on the cable were a tad burned. Needless to say, the plate won't heat up any more.

I guess I can hope that the electrickery isn't fried. Anyone have an idea how best to get a replacement?

Suggest all Mini owners check their cables are well seated in the receptacle on the underside of the build plate.

Cheerz!

Warranty that.

But.... I would see if you are still getting power on the cable. The bed has a thermostat underneath it which regulates its temp @ 50C so all it needs is power now sensors. This short however could have fried the FET on the motherboard.

This should be covered by your warranty, so I would strongly suggest that is your first point of call.
