good point.

There is a button 'Upload attachment'.
I just tested it: 'The extension stl is not allowed.'

Maybe the moderator of the forum can answer why?

I've never tried to upload an STL direct so I'm not sure if it's a general limitation but new users are also limited during their first few posts to ensure they are not spam. The easiest is to throw it on a sharing/cloud (Google Drive, dropbox, mediafire etc) storage service and link it in here instead.

All the forum sites that I know of only allow files that can be easily viewed with OS embedded digital image viewers of files like jpegs, gifs etc.
To view 3D files like STLs you need special more sophisticated software viewers which the general population just doesn't have, hence these files aren't catered to.
roller has the best solution.

ggeezer,
I'm in a Cinema4D forum. Everyone can upload and download .c4d files. Other people are not interested and don't need to open them. Members have the software to open them.

I think everone in this forum can open and view .stl files. This is the file format everyone is using. It should be supported???

Yeah, what can be be uploaded is simply a matter of choice during setup for the admins. Many forums permit files specific to the genre. I do know there are specific limitations for the first post of new users here and size limitations but it is easiest to post to online storage these days anyway.
