Re: up plus or up mini cannot decide

Having used both, If I was asked to make small, (presumably) fine models, I'd pick the UP! Plus...the quality of prints we are getting from the latest 1.18 software on the Plus is really astonishing The UP! Mini is very capable but the stronger construction, hotter platform and 0.15mm layer of the P...

Re: Request UK group

As a start I've created a Google Map of UP! suppliers / users in the UK
http://goo.gl/maps/XswzJ

There is already a worldwide one here:

You should be able to add yourself and see who's doing what and where 8-)

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] preview of calculated support

+1 Preview is a feature I'd really like to see and am always getting asked for from UP! customers. One of the main benefits would be it's educational value and getting immediate feedback after changing parameters... There would be less need to keep printing and wasting material just to see if the su...

What are you using ? Is it an expensive piece of kit ? Will it do video?
It'd be great to see the ABS cooling as it prints and what difference wind barriers and enclosures make.

Re: What colour is your UP ?

Mine just arrived with a silver model. I quite like it, but thinking of reprinting the attachments in black or something cause the white doesn't really suit
Black bits look cool with a Red machine, using the official Black ABS of course!

Re: Up Plus Review in Make's Ultimate Guide to 3D Printing

There was a post once explaining the differences - most of which have been incorporated by pp3dp into the latest models anyway...from memory they were: LED on the front Improved wind barrier / blower Large USB socket (not the mini one the older ones had) Improved packaging of the box it comes in erm...

Re: Warping & Ways to avoid it.

I've also seen prints lifting off the raft on the Mini. I haven't tried it as yet but was going pause the print after the raft has finished and drop Acetone or SuperGlue onto the corners. Obviously the raft will be then difficult to separate but if it's your own design you could add tabs in the corn...

Re: Form 1 3D printer may become vapourware

I'd hope that they can change their curing technique so it doesn't infringe the patent. Even if they can't and there are issues with small or thin details, the printer will probably still make better models than FDM printers in the same price bracket. It is very frustrating that patents like this ar...

Re: Talking of coffee...

I regularly enjoy a good coffee from the local coffee shops while in conversation with friends, and think that if I am drinking great coffee at home, a good coffee may become the norm rather than special I know what you're saying but I feel the prep. and cleaning of coffee makers means you tend to ...

Re: Uneven layers

Do you see the shadow indentations on all sides of a print ? Wherever the problem is worse will indicate which axis the problem may be (ie table in-out or nozzle left-right)

Talking of coffee...

Has anyone any opinions or experience of Nespresso machines ? Christmas is coming and fancy treating myself :)
I hear they make a very good coffee but am a bit lost at the range of machines and wonder if the capsules will get too expensive ?

Re: New user: First prints

Those prints look great ! I wouldn't worry about the nozzle getting too close to the board too much but you might want to check the extruder fastening screw is tight. By the way, the violin model might print with better detail if you rotated it 90 degrees, so it is printed edgeways up. I didn't thin...

Re: UP! Software and ROM v1.17 Final

You should be able to put v1.17 onto your PC without having to add or remove any other versions. I believe the trick to installing an older version is to bring the very old ROM up to date which then allows 1.17 to update the ROM version higher. Can you send screenshots of the help>about from the sof...

Re: Clearance for plastic hinges

The Up printers are pretty good on finished sizes but I've found all FDM printers tend toward smaller holes than designed. I'd always expect to drill or ream out pin / screw holes before fitting so as not to strain and crack the model.

Re: 1.17 parts less strong than 1.16

There is no single set of settings that is suitable for all users and all parts. We need control over more parameters. If implemented properly I don't see that this would necessarily result in overcomplication of the UI or difficulty for beginners.
+1 to that
