Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

Got the new heaters and controller installed today and everything wired temporarily for testing. I took a series of temperature readings at all the usual 9 points and they look ok. I took two sets of maximum readings, one with no heat sink above the heaters and one with a heat sink above the heaters...

Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

I think you are right about adding a heat sink. Albeit, the new heaters will heat up slower and I should be able to control the rate of warm up with the new controller. I am adding a .001" thick piece of ridged stainless above and below the new heaters. I will be able to stick the heaters to the sta...

Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

Forgot to mention there are actually two heaters one is 4x6 (pictured) and one is 1x5 (still on order). This was the closest to a full coverage I could get.

Up Mini perf board heater mod

I am in the process of adding a standalone heater system for the perf board to my UP Mini. The system includes a .007" thick 4" x 6" heater that will be sandwiched between the Mini heater and the perf board. The heater will be controlled with a digital temp controller and a 2 second reacting thermoc...

Re: My solution to an un even platform and some observations

I have had the entire print head apart and cleaned all the old plastic out. The gear was packed but cleaning it didn’t help much. Today I noticed that the Octave abs is shipped with thin shrink wrap around the filament and the stuff sticks to the abs bad. It is a chore to clean it off and some of it...

Re: My solution to an un even platform and some observations

Still waiting for the the heater to show up. Been trying to print an enclosure for the temp controller but I switched from black abs to white and my nozzle keeps plugging up. Can't get anything done if I am cleaning the nozzle every 5 minutes.

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

I am working on a mod for the mini platform heater. The new heater will have an external digital temperature controller. I am waiting for parts so I got nothing much to add yet. Its basically a stand alone heater and controller. I plan on fully testing and comparing and posting the results soon.

UP Mini lid mod

With the standard routing of the fillament for the UP Mini, I experienced some breakage of the fillament due to the bad angle that the plastic top cover puts on the fillament. I modded my top cover to allow a natural path for the the fillament. The square inch measurement of the hole now is much les...

Re: My solution to an un even platform and some observations

I have been thinking about the wiring. There will be a thermistor to worry about also. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there,
Meanwhile I am printing stuff I dont even need :) . Love the printer.

Re: My solution to an un even platform and some observations

Well I spent a massive amount of time removing the dots whether I needed to or not lol. I got a blister to proove it. My adheision now is stellar compared to what it was when I got the machine. For only "three hours" of run time as the seller claimed the perf board was clogged with a multitude of co...

My solution to an un even platform and some observations

I am a new owner of a used Mini and have discovered like so many others that my print bed is quite un-level and other problems, which I have remedied mostly. The front of my bed is 1.5mm out from the rear. Also the heat from the table heater is inadequate bla bla bla. I have not been able to print a...
