Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

There was once a very long thread here (started by me) on the subject of that larger-format printer that we both own. That thread and pretty much any other reference to the printer in question was deleted by pp3dp some months ago. I don't blame them terribly... their censorship is actually a lot le...

Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

I would value Drew's view on competitors machines and why he chose the machine he has? Are you able to indicate which machine you bought? I attempted to answer your question but it looks like I have fallen victim to online editing, my post appears to have been deleted. If I find this was tru...

I look forward to seeing one and will try to think more positively in the future, right now too much work and not enough time.

Love to all.

Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

Yes lots of big boxes, but I would be more impressed if there were lots of printers on tables actually making parts, I have so far to date not seen a single part being printed by the new "box" and would really like to know that they perform as anticipated. I'm sorry if I sound grumpy but I hav...

I would recommend checking your design here:

and I bought LEDs with the correct resistors here:

Re: Layering Issue

In regards to the "Z fixer", what a bad idea that was on the manufacturer part, a precision alignment issue handled by using bearings compressed between to painted rough sheet metal surfaces with no parallelism established and high resistance to movement. I have upgraded my printers and my son...

Re: WORKING: SOFTWARE TEMP MOD - ADJUSTABLE LAYER HEIGHTS !

But it seems there are problems regarding raftless printing. Using 0.35mm layers and turning off rafts produces a regular "start-strip", so far so good. But when laying down that one thin layer to print on, then the nozzle is too far away from the board and produces curls that do not touch the bed....

Re: Extruder stepper motor issue ... maybe

As I say, the original owner has given me a few ideas, and his first suggestion was to connect the external feeder unit, so that the stepper motor above the extruder head isn't working quite so hard. The external feed helper does nothing to help for all plastics except maybe soft plastics, the extr...

Re: Up Plus 2 extruder axis problems

Hi! Fun Fact! If during the "slicing" part of the program of the software the user happens to slide the virtual part around in the build space the slicer will offset each slice creating a strange part, similar to what I see in your pictures. Could it be if you are using a "Mac" version and you happe...

Re: Taulman 618-1.75mm Co-Polymer

Interesting question. All my mods have one thing in common, I always use the ABS setting in the UP software so my build plate is always heating up to 100c. I have only been chasing two dragons and that is the extruder temp and build plate adhesion. I have the Art Taylor temp control mod. I inject co...

Re: Taulman 618-1.75mm Co-Polymer

I gave up on the garrolite plate a long time ago. I use glass and the Elmers water soluble glue stick to build on, nylon likes it a lot, no lifting even when I print large flat areas like: http://www.myminifactory.com/object/hiking-staff-mount-of-gopro-4796 http://www.myminifactory.com/object/chest-...

Re: Up Plus Platform leveling issue

Hi, You really need to upgrade your mounting scheme to the one I outline here, pay close attention to the instructions and you should be happy in no time. If your printer is a newer model you will need to mill/drill a small pocket in the underside of the aluminum mount block that houses the heater/t...

Bought it on Amazon from Octave. They told me to take a hike. I am very doubtful Octave told you to "Take a hike" they are great at customer service and in many instances go out of their way to help even when it is not a "Warranty related" issue, their staff is prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. ...

Re: guide to replace hotend (e3d v6)

I switched to a Recreus design of hot end and had to shorten it due to this same issue.
Next time I plan to add material to the mount bracket for the extruder to the slide saddle to raise the extruder up to regain the lost height.
You might try this option.

Re: 100 sided circles

I also want to mention that printing round objects in 'fast" mode can have a similar effect that you described. Fast mode only accentuates the sharp cornering as the extruder is moving faster and thus tends to "bump" around these corners. None of the setting in the "UP" software will do anything to...

A little teaching here, an " STL " file when looked at in any type of viewer, you will see that all surfaces are made from small triangles, hence the " Tessellation " in " STL ", and you will notice that all cylinders walls are made of narrow flat planes each made of................ 2 triangles! The...
