Re: After updating, custom filament are removed

Whenever I'm making up configurations that are non standard in a software where I do not know for sure if they are "sticky" or backed up, I always grab a screen shot (alt+Print Screen) and paste it into a document for later review and comparison, this also means you can compare them offline if needed.

Re: Improvements I've made in the last year

I'm happy to see there's still some action on the Up Plus 2 front. Drew, I don't have the machining skills necessary to create that recreus hot-end with a nylon(?) barrel in orderto print PLA. Anychance you make them? Hi, Sorry I'm no longer working at the company that had a full machine shop for m...

Re: Can UP Plus 2 print polycarbonate?

I mean some enclosure to cover up the whole Up Plus 2 machine during printing to maintain high ambient temperature, since UP Plus 2 is exposed to open air. I am trying to print PC with a thickness 0.5 to 1mm. Do you think I can separate the part from the raft without breaking the part? I picked up ...

Re: Piece too small, automaticcally resized, which causes ?

Hi Jimmy, Image1.jpg The value is: to shrink part, Inch to metric = 1 / 25.4 type a new scale of .0393 Image4.jpg to enlarge part, metric to inch = 25.4 x 1 type a new scale of 25.4 This most often happens when a part was designed in Millimeters and the slicing software is expecting Inches, or it wa...

Re: Piece too small, automaticcally resized, which causes ?

No this is a common issue.
It is Inches versus Millimeters.
There is a scale function in the software and there will be a MM/Inch or Inch/MM settings.
1/25.4
25.4/1
just resize your part back normal.

Re: Warping during print

I use "Elmer's" purple water soluble glue stick on my perf board as well as on glass for raft-less printing.
Cheap and effective and the only thing I've found that works for Nylon too.

Re: Assemble an UP Plus 2

Hello, It has been awhile since I felt I could help someone here, so let me drop a big help to everyone. Long ago I purchased the original UP Plus when it was 3k here in the US, I've since put thousands of hours into printing and almost as many into improving on the design and releasing my designs t...

Re: Improvements I've made in the last year

Hello All Uppers, It has been a long time between posts, I have a little time on my hands these days so I thought I would give a little back to the community so here goes. I have been keeping a large spreadsheet of all the plastics I've tested and use on my "UP Plus Pro", with best temp settings and...

Re: Error - Grinding noise when platform bed is being raised

Have you ever lubed the bearings, do you check the tensions in the belts?
Every 3D printer in existence today requires some basic maintenance and I hear users complain when their machines start acting up and then they are reminded to do these.

Re: PLA extruding during model upload and strand is released before printing

Yes this is normal with all plastics ABS or PLA or any others, as the extruder heats up the plastic in the nozzle expands and leaks out a little, removing this small string of plastic I call this "Picking the nose" of the extruder before printing begins. Doing this can help keep your nozzle tip and ...

So much to go wrong, at about 3 cents per gram just toss the bad part and reprint, I'm pretty sure in the end it will be cheaper than all the broken things that can happen to the printer and you.

Drew, Thanks for the info. I do understand it is unwise to "inhale etc in high concentrations and I don't tend to wash with it !!! Here in the UK I can still get it in 5 litre containers via ebay, sent through the post ! Being retired and approaching my 70's, I guess neither MEK, nor many other che...

Re: Base plate heating is low in the end.

Drew, have to say I never wear gloves with MEK, I understood it was not toxic, nor carcinogenic. I have been using it for a good 20 years, it's great at removing paint etc from hands !!!! Agreed it will degrease skin but don't think it is as dangerous as you think. Now I did once totally clean a bo...
