Re: Waffle surface

When a ABS part of your printer fails, you can go to a local fablab and let a spare part print right?

Re: Another filament cooling mod

True, but what I like is the fact that this way its very easy to unplug the fan and remove the pla mod when needed + if i'm not mistaken, with the voltage regulator you can slightly increase the fan speed by slightly reasing the voltage (not to much of coarse...)

@mb2music, which one of these would you recommend for a step-down regulator? http://www.dx.com/s/voltage+step-down

Re: Another filament cooling mod

Could try it, but its basically the same mod as I'm using now..... One thing I'm very interesting in though is how you have used the power outlet on the back of the printer. I had this idea a while ago http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4979 . Can you put some details on how to set this...

Re: Another filament cooling mod

Well I tested Dogberts design, but it did not work for me. Still a skipping steppermotor after about 15-30 minutes. I did notice that after an hour printing the stepper motor is way cooler than without the mod. It is still warm but not really hot. But I guess the motor is still to warm for my formfu...

Re: Another filament cooling mod

Okay so after all I printed http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:200072 from Dogbert, because it was designed to be friction fitted and with a heatsink on the back. I must say the cooler fits perfectly, it won't fall of during print. After I get a fan and have hooked it up I'll do some testing hopefully...

Re: Another filament cooling mod

A problem with Thing 200072 might be that there is not enough airflow around the motor, the vent holes look pretty small and there is only a small air path around the motor itself. You got a point there...I think I'm going to try your design, but I only want to use the 'inner' part that shells the ...

--Try to repair your stl file with netfabb https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/--

Hmmm I did notice the extremely thin edge in your part. As said, you will need to remodel because this will be very difficult to print.

Re: Another filament cooling mod

I tried putting several layers of thin adhesive PTFE tape over the extruder block where it is in contact with the filament to try to reduce the heat transfer and it seems to help. You can also pull a teflon pad off the bottom of an old mouse and try using that if it's the right thickness. It won't ...

Re: Temperature Control

Basically the same way. What the Octave switch does is tricking the temperature sensor with resistors, so the sensor reports a (fake) higher temperature back to the printer, which results in a lower extruder temperature. So every switch adds a higher amount of resistors, creating a lower extruder te...

Re: How to get good results with Taulman 618 (DRYING TIPS?!!

After keeping the fillament in a sealedbag with dessicants, I can confirm that printing with the Taulman fillament is back on par. No more hissing and popping, but a nice smooth surface and good bounding :D
