Re: Controlling the "Z" axis direction on the MINI

You could mess with the stepper-motor.
http://reprap.org/wiki/Stepper_wiring#M ... procedures

Reversing the wires gives you opposite drive.

Not sure what you are trying to do here though…
… destroy your printer? :D

Re: print directly onto platform

Try the Windows version of the software.
As far as I remember, using OSX always gave me that thin first layer no matter what.

I use Windows via Parallels plus the temperature soft-mod.
Works fine - raftless prints have no raft whatsoever.

It's just a segment of 12V LED-stripe.
You can buy those for a few bucks - in 5m rolls :-)

Re: Found a better slicing software compatible with UP!

Hot damn! Just tried it with my Mini and it seems to work just fine! It somehow lacks some things (haven't found them yet maybe…)… 1 - A calibration-panel - you adjust the nozzle via a control-panel to be closest to the bed and enter that number before printing. 2 - There is no option for raftless p...

Re: What function does this serve?

Took a look just now and I have that screw too. (Germany, Tchibo UP! Mini 2014) I would guess it's some sort of last-minute-hack to keep the housing from shaking / bending / rattling. Most likely the housing bent inwards while the other side is held in place by the door-hinges. Why not? Just a littl...

Re: PLA Printing

Look at the Temp-Mod thread. You need to find the LOWEST temperature for your kind of PLA, then slightly work upwards until you get good layer-bonding while keeping the filament as solid as possible before it enters the extruder. You will also need additional fans for your extruder. Also make sure y...

Re: Filament Kompendium

Re: Endlich PLA auf UP! Mini

I have pretty much given up on ABS. High quality PLA prints pretty flawless on my mini and has only marginal warping. Of cause ABS and PLA have different properties, but for most uses PLA is cool. I have tried ASA lately - nice material, less warping than ABS, has a feel between ABS and PLA I would ...

Re: WORKING: SOFTWARE TEMP MOD - ADJUSTABLE LAYER HEIGHTS !

They really need to implement this in their own software, main reason being I really DO NOT need premium OEM filament for rough prototypes. But THEY need to make money from original filament! And givent that the original stuff runs at about € 40,– / kg - they have no incentive to change that. The M...

Re: Support material bonding too well to prints

OEM support should indeed be well removable. With temperaturemod you need to find the proper temperature(s) for your material. I have 4 different 3rd party PLAs and all of them have different properties. Larger planes in hard to reach areas are always problematic. Like let's say a cylinder-hat print...

I would say it is a mix of compensating for a flawed bed-heating and trying to sell more stock filament…
Nevertheless PLA sticks already well to bluetape and ABS gets into those little holes fine.

Re: WORKING: SOFTWARE TEMP MOD - ADJUSTABLE LAYER HEIGHTS !

@printmo I have the same setup. The PLA problem is that the filament in the extruder-part gets too warm too quickly and then transport fails. You want to fine-tune the settings via the DLL mod to a point that he BARELY prints. What I mean by that is that you need a temperature so close to the point ...
