Re: Microsoft 3D Builder Test Model Challenge

You know the windows 8.1 update was purely optional, that's why you had to download it through the windows store instead of through the windows update process. Really all it did was just add extra functionality for mouse users. I grew up on windows, and everytime i have to use a Mac i get extremely ...

Re: Microsoft 3D Builder Test Model Challenge

I run my Up Plus on my surface pro 1, its an awesome little PC. Surface Pros are actually pretty decent computers in a tablet form. Just dont buy a Surface RT by mistake, or the new Surface 3 (the one that isnt a "pro" model)

Re: Airbrushing out the plastic defects at 260 degrees.

Not to rain on your parade, but this isnt a new concept. I said practically the same thing not that long ago if you were reading the forums (http://pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=54575&p=42406&sid=dfd0691bc411e7171ef67ce4c2bbc69b#p42406) The concept of heating plastic to get rid of white spots...

Re: Thinking of selling my UP printers & buying a larger pri

Direct drive extruders have nothing to do with pla printing problems.... replicators and their clones are direct drive extruders too. You might want to do more homework before you buy anything.

Look in your installation folder. You'll find both the calibration file and the manual. Our at least that's where it used to be. I haven't looked in a long time.

I never had any warranty stickers on my Ups?! Must be something new theyve started doing in the last year or two.

Or am I going in deeper?
Yep, those are the ones, sorry i should've mentioned my printers were up plus originals, but the basics are about the same.

Re: Layering Issue

Dangit, typing that all out jogged my memory, but not until after hitting submit. I did have a kinda similiar issue like yours, turned out the 2 screws holding the bed to the linear bearing had started coming loose and the bed/heaterblock would shift/twist just a tiny bit randomly causing slightly m...

Re: Layering Issue

Total guess here, but when you replaced the Z-fixer did you check the side of the chassis for any built up grime? (similiar to grime that can build up on the bottom of a computer mouse) Or uneven wearing of the chassis paint? I open mine up once or twice a year to clean out dust and plastic bits if ...

Re: WORKING: SOFTWARE TEMP MOD - ADJUSTABLE LAYER HEIGHTS !

I also wanted to chime in and mention that the reason I have Up plus printers is actually because of how well the software works. (I got tired of constantly "tinkering" on my first reprap, I spent more time tweaking calibration values and firmware settings then I did actually printing useful stuff, ...

Re: WORKING: SOFTWARE TEMP MOD - ADJUSTABLE LAYER HEIGHTS !

So the profile you tweak will make a difference too. I selected the .15mm profile on my up plus 1 and changed the layer height to .1mm and it printed without a raft just fine. the profile in general needed other tweaks though, it was over extruding horribly, i only changed the layer height, but the ...

Re: Extruder stepper motor issue ... maybe

Are you printing in ABS or PLA? Ive had PLA before from various manufacturers that would soften just from the warmth of the stepper motor and then strip, which usually happens after a few layers (because the stepper takes a few layers to warm up) if you search the forums you'll find discussions abou...

Re: Getting NO WHERE with this Printer

If you moved the linear bearing to the end of the rail when you played with the belt you might have lost some of the ball bearings in the linear bearing. I did this once and it was a pain in the butt to get then back in. The only thing holding those balls in is the rail itself.

Re: Printer can't initialize anymore... Please help

I've had this happen before, the fix for me was to unplug the power cable from the unit and leave it overnight and plug it back in the next day. Its some kind of issue with a static discharge hitting the printer. Support will usually try to tell you the cpu/motherboard is dead. (And in some cases th...

Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

Afinia.com recently announced the upcoming release of their version of the Up Box, called the Afinia H800 for American customers. Their release date is spring 2015. Some sites like 3ders.org claim the release is May 2015. I like the color scheme of the afinia better with the Black and white colors v...

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] - Change default directory.

That's probably a windows 10 preview issue, not an Up! Issue. On windows 7 and 8 the Up! software remembers where you loaded a file from last and when when you go to open a file it returns to the last opened folder. On windows 8 with the majority of programs, if you go to open a file from within a p...

Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

Unfortunately they missed my money. I was ready to buy in November. They could have at least released a blog post or statement saying it was delayed. I got burnt out checking their store pages every single day in November hoping to catch it on day one. I don't like companies that make it a point to ...

Everyone knows distributors can be pretty bad sources of information (especially when is comes to proprietary consumables, some will flat out lie just to get you to buy from them), your distributor apparently never learned much about his product. It only took me about 5 minutes to look this up. Acc...

Re: Opinions on Robox 3D printer?

I think the chipped spools are optional and made for convenience. I searched through their website about it before moving on because I wanted a printer with a larger print area. If I remember right the chipped reels store the specs of the filament on them so the printer automatically sets things lik...
