Filament coil tangling issue

I've tried different ways but still can't find a final solution for this: when you use 1kg spool, sometimes the filament get tangled so the extruder wont' be able to pull the material thus stop your printing. Babysitting is not a good solution for 2hr printing obviously. This actually also happened ...

Re: Need help - fail to print large part

If it is loose it wont be the belt but rather something slipped or broken causing it to loose tension. I don't think it's this though because the Z is the less reliant on belt tension as the weight always keeps the tension in the important part of the belt. One thing is there are usually little met...

Re: Need help - fail to print large part

It's hard to be sure from the photos but it looks like things are not hot enough. Are you printing with the fan door closed? If not I would definitely try it with the door closed. (Assuming your PLA/ABS setting is correct.) I've been busy and away from my printer for quite a while but now come back...

Re: Need help - fail to print large part

Thanks for both reply and I'll try it, getting a switch or fix the stl file is not a big deal at all, hopefully it's not the machine itself that needs to be fixed.

Need help - fail to print large part

I'm not sure when this started to happen because most time I only use half of the table (central area) and it prints well, with or without raft, but recently I needed to print an object near 100 x 100 mm and it failed 4 times already, no matter how I tried to adjust the printing options (with/withou...

0.15mm layer option not shown

I have a UP! plus v1.1 and just got my up software updated to v1.17, with the ROM V6.04/F3.0, but when I go to the print set up I don't see the 0.15mm layer option. The smallest layer is still 0.20mm, same as before (v1.16). Can anyone enlighten me please ? Thanks a lot.

Re: Website redesign

I also noticed the slowness, must be something to do with the hosting server.

Nice website, but its very slow.
Maybe you can host the final site on a faster server?

Re: Offering CAD modelling service for your 3D printing

Here's a good example when my little one got a birthday party to attend and instead of buying a present, we printed one. 1, So my kid first downloaded a dragon model: Dragon.JPG 2, Then I designed a base in SpaceClaim and also created embossed words (for demo only, actual wording is much more) Drago...

Offering CAD modelling service for your 3D printing

Dear All: Recently I purchased one license of SpaceClaim (much more expensive than my UP 3D printer) so I can design my own stuff or modify downloaded models for 3D printing. Now I'm thinking maybe I can use this great tool to provide CAD modelling service to this community to help others that don't...

Printing with USB cable un-plugged

I tried to un-plug the usb cable after printing starts to solve my previous problems and it seems working well so far. But I still have these questions: 1. In which way un-plugging usb cable affects printing process? 2, Is anyone who has been printing with usb cable plugged without any problem? 3, I...

I use Space Claim 2012 too, for both of my business and 3d design for printing.

Re: My UP printer has its own mind now

Thanks for all of your responses, really appreciate it and I want to give you some feedbacks. Since it doesn't fail all the time so I hoped its not the stepper motor problem. I searched forum and noticed that some posts talking about unplugging USB cable while printing, so I tried and it's been work...

My UP printer has its own mind now

A couple of weeks ago when I was printing the abs filament stopped coming out of nozzle halfway during printing so I had to re-initialize it and reprint. Then it worked fine on one small print, failed again on next one and I notice the X axis (front & back) has some noise while moving. I checked noz...

Re: Raft less printing

All your advices are good, really appreciate it. I know printing with raft is more stable, but I need to print out a diameter of 132 mm which reaches the limit of the table but should still fit. But the problem is it gives me error saying out of limit and you see the raft is out of limit graphically...

Re: Raft less printing

Thanks for your quick reply. I calibrated my nozzle height really well, because precision measurement is my profession, I use very precise gauge block and .002"(.05mm) shim to set the nozzle height. But it won't hurt to double check it again. The raft and gap in the graphic is still confusing me bec...

Raft less printing

I really need some help to print stuff without raft. When I first got my my UP I did print out a small object without raft, it sits right on terf board nicely, then started to print more complicated stuff (even a working bearing) with raft. Now I need to print some stuff raftlessly but funny enough,...
