Is my printer faulty?

Hello, I have the Up Plus 2 for about two weeks. I am satisfied with it most of the time. However, on the 3rd print, it printed noodle/nothing in air. Today, it seemed to print fine in the first minute. After I came back from an hour break, I found that the printer was printing in air with nothing c...

PLA printing using Makerbot 2 vs. Up Plus 2

Hello, previously I owned a Makerbot 2. It has some design faults. Anyway, how is PLA printing using the Makerbot 2 compared with that using the Up Plus 2? I had bad experience when I used the Makerbot 2 to print things. When it printed, there were bad smell. I did not notice smell when I used the U...

Re: Very difficult to remove from cellboard

How about putting some Acetone on the cellboard or dipping the entire cellboard into acetone. Will it work well?

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up installing the Windows version on a virtual machine under Fusion. It works fine.

Re: Questions from new Up Plus 2 user

How come we do not need to do Auto Level and Nozzle Height Detect after the cellboard taken out and placed back? When we remove the cellboard and put it back, we certainly change the level and perhaps also the leveling of the platform somehow. Without doing Auto Level and Noozle Height Detect, won't...

Re: Can the edges, surfaces and holes be improved?

the S you are referring to is due to the fill not full and there is no FULL FILL option. what can be improved for aesthetic wise you just have to have more full layers on the surface. but i am guessing your picture of the S is not on completed print part (or not final Z height) The software is not ...

Re: Can the edges, surfaces and holes be improved?

BTW dont be afraid to undersize the holes and use a drill to get better hole shapes and sizes. NOthing wrong with counter bore holes csk is tougher on FDM and worst if aligned not along the Z axis. Thanks. That is the problem. I designed the holes as normal holes rather than counter bore holes. Don...

Re: Questions from new Up Plus 2 user

Drew, thanks for the detailed procedure. I have a few questions: 1. In Step 11, what do you mean by: "Least amount of support needed.• Best strength of thin segments."? 2. In Step 16, which fill type and what values for dense layer, space (line), area do you recommend? 3. In Step 28, what if we use ...

How to prevent the printer from printing noodles?

Hello, we tried to print the object shown in the photo. Although other parts of the object were printed nicely, the Up Plus 2 could not print the highlighted part. It printed noodles in air. Anybody knows the cause and how to fix this problem? I used the default settings. Thank you.

Can the edges, surfaces and holes be improved?

Hello experienced users, I need some suggestions on making nice printings. As you see from the photos, on each side of each hole, the surface is not flat. There are some inclines on the left and right edges. What are they? Also, on the surface, there are lots of lines. Is Acetone the one to use to r...

Re: Questions from new Up Plus 2 user

From a practical standpoint, it's better to start pre-heating before sending the print job because the bed takes longer to warm up than the extruder. If you don't pre-heat, the printer will just wait longer before actually starting to print because it needs the bed to reach a certain temp anyway. I...

Re: Questions from new Up Plus 2 user

You should check level and nozzle height when you first set up the printer. You do not need to check it after each print or whenever you turn on the printer. If you have trouble with prints sticking too well or not sufficiently, or if your prints look uneven, recheck level and nozzle height. The Ex...

Hello, when I tried my first print, I got the message "Part Material not enough, add material". Could you please let me know what it is all about? I pressed yes and nothing happened. I removed all the objects and placed them in the virtual build area on the screen. When I pressed print, the same mes...

Hello, anybody tried both Taulman 3D 618 Natural Nylon Filament and the 3D T-Glase Polyester Resin Filament from Octave? I am looking for filament that can produce strong and rigid structure. Is it better to get the Garolite LE Plate or other special build plate? Which extruder switch do you recomm...

Re: Is there a way to print using Up Plus 2 without a PC?

Yes you can disconnect your PC once the file has been uploaded to the UP. It has on board memory. As a bonus you can reprint the last print by pressing the initialize button twice quickly. Thank you very much for the very useful information. What is the memory size? Is there a way to tell if the on...
