Re: Another solution for PLA printing?

I think your sheets are awesome Matt, think they will work very well on the OEM pla. I've used blue tape before, but your sheets will be much easier to use! As in my suggested idea above. After some tips from Drew, I'm not going to continue on it. A longer shaft will probably not prevent heat travel...

Re: Ran out of filament during print.

You don't have to be a modeler to do that, you can use the free version of netfabb to split the .stl at the point that the printer stopped printing.

Re: Another solution for PLA printing?

Still haven't had time to test your sheets....I will test it soon with ABS and OEM pla form Tiertime. Still have some third party PLA from formfutura, which does not print, so I could test in your sheets also. But I think the problem with printing pla on the plus has little to do with the print surf...

Re: Another solution for PLA printing?

I printed a mod of DrewPetitclerc (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16711) in metal at shapeways. I was realy impressed with the quality and strenght. I really think a printed gear in metal will be functional!

Would really like some review/input though!

Re: Heating Issues with Printing PLA on Mini without ColorFa

I'm having the same issue on my plus. Don't want to use a compressor and the motor cooling mods for the plus don't seem to work good enough. I have one thing in mind to try, but i'm a bit held back to give it a go before getting some input: http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=54310. If i...

Re: Stepper motor too hot!!!

Hmmm normally this problem only occurs with PLA, first time I hear it occuring with ABS. Motor needs to get really hot then. In my experience heat sinks and cooling fans make to little difference, but its worth to try.

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

Last year I did try the clip mod (don't think i have a stl of the redesign), but it did not work for me. Also have tried cooling mods for the stepper motor, but the motor keeps getting to hot. You could check out this thread http://pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=54310, may be this could lead t...

Re: Knocking from Extruder (*not* clogged)

At the moment I'm playing with this idea: http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=54310.

Heatsinks and a cooling fan is not working for me. Might be that my fan does not have enough airflow but I can't get the motor cool enough.

Re: Another filament cooling mod

I think i'll need to try a 50 mm fan as well. I also have another idea for making pla printing possible, dont know if its worth trying though....

Re: Another solution for PLA printing?

A redesign of the drivegear can be easily made with this thingiverse gear customizer: http://www.thingiverse.com/apps/customi ... ef6e5773c4. It also has the ability to add a setscrew.

Another solution for PLA printing?

I've tried a few mods to print in PLA, most of them involving cooling of the stepper motor. This has not been very successful for me yet....I don't want to use the air compressor mod designed by drew, to much of a hassle for me. So before stepping over to more expensive PLA, which should work (?!), ...

Re: Some issues printing PLA

20+ min for slicing and uploading is indeed way to long. It might be that it is a complex model and when you set it on high detail there are many layers to slice and upload, so it is possible but at average prints it should take a few minutes max. Anyways your PLA problems have nothing to do with th...

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] Temperature control

Well you can add another +1 because there are many easy ways to get control of temperature by adding a hardware mod. At this point we don't really need software control, although it would be a bit easier and a bit more precise.

I'm not sure but it could be that your CPU is fried. Try searching the forum on 'Fried CPU' and check if your problems are the same. If your CPU has been fried your facing a 1000 dollar repair.....
