Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

Okay I love the machine but not too crazy about the forced smaller roll size. I generally buy 1kg rolls of filament and would like to continue that, would also like to know if temperature controls will be avialabe to the masses? As I want to use rubber like filaments on my Up Mini but cannot and I ...

You are right, and I have already bought it and planning to add one more. But frankly speaking, after using Up plus and Up mini for two years, it's hard to resist the Up Box though the price is higher...hhmmm..

Re: New desktop 3D printer from Tiertime

Don't know how he got his hands on one so soon, maybe he was given one by Tiertime to test? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeGva0L5Ibs That's Brian Quan of Tiertime unpacking the prototype for MakerFaire. Note the username "Brendan Q", and also he is recognizable at 0:14. Have you seen the BOX in ...

Re: Up Box at NY MakerFaire

That's very expensive indeed. But I don't understand - if the issue is not tax, then why can't you just order directly from pp3dp website (or any other internet retailer) for $1,649 or less? I tried but pp3dp doesn't deliver to my country, maybe there is an arrangement between them and the distribu...

Re: Up Box at NY MakerFaire

Wow! This thing is a monster. The good thing about the UP printer is it's reliable. But over here, it is overpriced :(. Overpriced compared to what? There are other printers with integrated software, easily-removable support, and the Up's reliability and print quality? You might say that those thin...

Re: Best affordable filament?

Since PP3DP filament was the best bang-for-the-buck filament I had found for running on my Stratasys, I wonder if Stratasys filament will work well on the Up! printer? A local filament extruder is now offering Sabic MG94 filament, which is the resin that Stratasys sells as P430 and ABS-M30: http://...

Re: Cubify Cube 3

Looks good, nice price. http://cubify.com/cube3/index.aspx What next PP3DP? Going to be too late to update UP-printer with facelifts. "WARRANTY Description: 90 days parts and labor" Hmmm...only 3 months warranty as opposed to 1 year for Up, an indication of their level of confidence in their own pr...

Full color desktop 3D printer under $5000

It seems 3D Systems is going full speed ahead and try to cover all the bases as much as possible. The CubeJet Full color desktop 3D printer reminds me of BotObjects, what ever happen to them??? http://www.3ders.org/articles/20140107-3d-systems-announced-full-color-cubejet-cerajet-3d-ceramic-printer....

Re: printer not extruding

Problem solved. Apparently, I forgot to try one tip, cleaning the nozzle tip using needle. The nozzle tip was clogged by a black residue, probably because I was using gas stove to clean it before. Maybe you should try to clean the nozzle using acetone and needle too.

Re: Stratasys vs. Afinia patent issue

The way I see it, they are suing Afinia because : 1. Now they owned Makerbot and this is one of the strategy to kill competitor 2. Afinia /UP printer is reliable than Replicator 2/2x which still have have problems until now 3. MAKE magazine 3D printer testing report 2014 just declared Afinia/UP as B...

Nice. Makerbot is also promoting its dissolvable filament. http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2013/09/30/makerbot-filament-its-melting-its-melting/ Price at $65, it 'dissolves in limonene, a common, colorless, citrus-scented solvent available online and in grocery and home stores.
