1.7+ Raft Issues

Been a while since jumping on the forum but I have been having lots of issues with 1.7+ with the raft peeling off and looking crappy on the bottom. I have not ticked the "Easy Peel" option or changed anything but the rafts look different and the bottom surface looks terrible. Has anyone else noticed...

Re: Custom MCU-module for UP! Mini...

Another usb stream which would be useful to dump would be the print again command. I have some knowledge about writing python scripts to control the UP software directly and this could be integrated to allow you to automate the process as its a bit of a paint to send. Wait for it to start. Kill Job....

Re: Custom MCU-module for UP! Mini...

They both have SD cards not just the mini. In fact they are exactly the same boards inside them. I haven't got the time to dump anything atm but I might over christmas. I tried to get the PyUSB script to run on windows and its a bitch. Also instead of making a GUI. If you can get a binary which will...

Re: Custom MCU-module for UP! Mini...

Nice work here guys. I did some dumping of the UP Mini SD cards and although I only spent a day or two going over the dumps I am pretty sure that there wasn't any obvious places in the start where it set the temperature. This may or may not be correct. My inclination is that it would store the PLA o...

Re: Printer goes mad after completion - possible netfabb .st

Remove the SD card and do a full format on your pc. Should write all zeros to it which will remove any stray commands which have been written.

Re: Custom MCU-module for UP! Mini...

Yeh the only real reason was to get 0.15 mostly for some difficult prints which that little bit of extra resolution would be good for. Other than that and adjustable temperature I am pretty ok with up software.

Re: Print bed not center on up mini - Losing out an inch of

So the obvious fix is just to put a spacer on the limit switch when it homes so it homes further forward. But it sounds like you may have a problem with your printer. When I have printed the largest objects possible on the up mini min is about 4mm from the front edge. (more from the back) So sounds ...

Re: Custom MCU-module for UP! Mini...

Lol well you obviously have more time than me. Thats pretty cool I really don't know if there is much point in using other firmware on the printer, I was more interested in convincing my up mini to accept the UP firmware so that it could print at 0.15 and also so I could manipulate the temperature. ...

Re: Print bed not center on up mini - Losing out an inch of

So are you printing off the edge of the perf board with your prints? If not then that is norma. As the Mini's board is physically the same size as the UP Plus's board I am pretty sure they limit the size of the items slightly in software I know you could print bigger things on it. I have always foun...

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

Can anyone comment on whether in older versions of the software the UP said 100% once it was heated? Or if it reported the temp all the way through?

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

I sliced a PLA and ABS cube and dumped both of those cards. The files are less than 1mb and for anyone trying this themselves be aware that the files are offset by 100mb on the card. There is approximately 2000 bytes different but considering the file size this is < 1%. This indicates that the files...

Re: Difference between Mac and Windows software

Another thing to consider is that if you are going to draw anything, in any decent CAD package, you sort of have to use windows anyway. Very few commercial grade CAD programs support Mac. You can use things like sketchup or 123D. But these are no where near as full featured as Inventor Pro or Solidw...

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

Fun times messing with SD card dumps.

So far have not located where the temperature is set for PLA or ABS but made lots of discoveries. Interesting times.

Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

Measuring that current is being drawn is way too much of a hassle I doubt they would bother. I also remember someone here saying they fried the mini's bed and they were printing without it heating up.

Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

Another side thought.

As there is no feedback from the bed. Why not just add a switch for PLA and turn the bed right off? That would solve a lot of the heat issues.

Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

You could always just replace the thermal controller underneath the board. It is a 50C unit they sell 70C and 100C ones I think which are exactly the same just different part numbers. Just take out the bed. Unsolder it and add on new one. Much easier than adding all the other gear. You might find th...

Been messing about with the firmware a bit today. Just looking through instructions and strings.

Managed to change my printers name from UP Mini to Up Mods. Really wish I knew what the chip was.

Re: Detached build plate cable

Warranty that. But.... I would see if you are still getting power on the cable. The bed has a thermostat underneath it which regulates its temp @ 50C so all it needs is power now sensors. This short however could have fried the FET on the motherboard. This should be covered by your warranty, so I wo...
