Re: Essential Mods & other bits for success ?

Hi, nice plans :) especially letting the bed run higher, the stock 60 degrees is really insufficient for ABS! The software temp mod works great, bud don't expect too much from PLA, the filament drive gear gets too hot and softens the PLA so it jams after a while. I have very good results with HIPS. ...

Re: UP BOX Auto Nozzle Height Detect

Oh yes, about Simplify3D. It's awesome, and 100% worth the price. The problem is that there is no way to get a trial version, and a lot of people want to see what they get for their hard-earned money. However, there's a lot of videos and tutorials which show the power of the software. They are proba...

Re: UP BOX Auto Nozzle Height Detect

I understand what you mean, and in the ideal world buying one of these printers should enable everyone to download a design from Thingiverse and print it, no knowledge needed. At least that is how people think, and what I thought when buying the Mini. But after a few prints I was disappointed by par...

Re: UP BOX Auto Nozzle Height Detect

Come on man that's not what the poster asked. If you don't like the Up go to a RepRap forum. There are lots of printers for everybodies taste, at least try to help this person with the Up printer on the forum that is for Ups. On topic: Maybe there is a little plastic under the metal thing that make...

Re: Finished : Mega Prusa i3 Reprap with 400x400x280mm envel

Another example, a mudguard for my girlfriend's wheelchair, printed in black PLA, with the last 20 layers in pink PLA (no dual extruder yet, just pause, swap, continue.

This part is about 350x300x60mm and took 6 hours to print on 0.30 layer height.

Re: Finished : Mega Prusa i3 Reprap with 400x400x400mm envel

Printed this 160mm long, 3mm thick, 100% infill ABS wrench in 8 minutes. No lifting, no delamination... so happy with this build :)
The surface quality is a little raw because I did not print the last layer slower, I needed this thing quickly!

Re: UP BOX Auto Nozzle Height Detect

Sell the thing and buy / make a Reprap. Really, I started with the Mini, liked it a lot but bumped into issues fairly soon. Lifting, lost calibrations, limitations... meh. Built my own Reprap http://www.instructables.com/id/Mega-Prusa-i3-Rework-8-x-Build-Volume/ for around 600 euros and will never g...

Re: Finished : Mega Prusa i3 Reprap with 400x400x400mm envel

I don't know him well enough to really comment but from previous discussions with him a long time ago he seemed to stubbornly push his own ideas and took a long time to come to the merits of the ideas of others. Maybe that's why he still hasn't come up with a CoreXY design, while there are already ...

Re: Finished : Mega Prusa i3 Reprap with 400x400x400mm envel

The problem I have with Josef Prusa and his designs is that he is a bit of an evangelist and tends to compromise printer design for the sake of meeting the tenants of the reprap community. I'd rather have a printer that put print quality first and less emphasis on it being built from printed parts ...

Re: Finished : Mega Prusa i3 Reprap with 400x400x400mm envel

Fantastic. Very nice work. How's your print quality going? I think my next build is going to be a very larger (800mm+) CoreXY design but I my wallet hurts every time I budget out the design. Thanks :) Print quality is great, had some Y-layer shifting issues in the beginning because of the large / h...

Re: Finished : Mega Prusa i3 Reprap with 400x400x400mm envel

:) Simplify3D, but stock settings didn't work for me. This worked : - 3-layer raft with base layers - 85% infill - raft printed at normal temperature - skip one layer - print first layer of part 10 degrees colder - print second layer of part 5 degrees hotter - let cool completely, then take off the ...
