Re: Octave Temperature Switch

$20 is the same price for a brand new one. Also, I don't need it right away, I can wait a few extra days with first-class. Don't need it to be insured either. $15 shipped is the most I will pay since both my printers already have one and this would just be for a spare =) I didn't know the price. Ma...

Re: Platform Height settings

Even unplugging all the connections + power, then re-connecting & turning it back on, then re-initializing? I've had lots of wacky things happen (all my fault I think) but I've managed to always get it working again. Have you re-initialized using the button on the front of the machine or in the main...

Wow Lon! He is a pretty buttery color :) I printed him in Inventables Orange. I absolutely love that filament. Too bad it's expensive (shipping).

Re: ON / OFF heater switch mod

Yes, an insulator sounds like a good idea to get an "intermediate" bed temp - I've found that stone-cold is not optimum for a lot of materials that supposedly don't "require" a heated bed. Colorfabb PLA+PHA, for example, lays down a much nicer first layer when the bed is at 40-50C. I think it may h...

Re: ON / OFF heater switch mod

I still prefer a fan ... and for the really low melt point stuff (which is hard to print without an extruder mod anyway) a very thin sheet of corrogated card under the perfboard acts as a brilliant insulator. Normally I prefer a system hack but these are so quick and simple ... plus with PLA I ofte...

My preference is 3ds Max & ZBrush however I've started to tinker around in Tinkercad. Still trying to figure out Autodesk 123D.

Re: Octave Temperature Switch

On my reprap which is much more finicky with temps I don't bother with anything more discrete than 5C changes. The Up is a little more tolerant and so 10C steps has proven sufficient. I like being able to change the temp on the fly and having the mod on the head so there is no flex in the wires so ...

Nice review! I think I'd eventually like to upgrade to something like this in the future. The guys at Octave ship fast and I've always had excellent customer service from them. Re: Printing stacked parts possible?

If you are adding stuff in the Up software rather than as one prestacked STL I think you might need to "merge" the prints before you start printing (but after you have everything in the right place. I think that will make it happy. It's about a year since I didn't stacked parts - I just don't have ...

Don't know why but I don't receive any e-mail notifications? Strange. Yes, I got the 100+ temperature switch. I was looking at the other one and just said well, why not...buying it anyway. I'm finding that it was probably a good buy since I can get a little more control with the settings. The regula...

Re: Printer stops mid-print

I had this issue and for me, it was a 'Move Error'. This message was in the bottom right corner and happened in the middle of a large print. When I opened the UP Inspector, it confirmed a Y-limit error. I greased the gears and ran the UP Inspector again with no error and have been printing just fine...
