Re: Consistent air prints

Got it! Thank you so much! It was right under my nose the hole time. I will take your advice and try to take a closer look at it and will invest in a whole bunch of these little guys. Thanks again!

Re: Consistent air prints

I know that this post is from way back, and since the original post I've just sort of ignored the problem and worked with other filaments (with decent results), but still feel that the issue identified by Julia may still be the culprit (maybe I've just been putting off the inevitable). One really ba...

Re: Consistent air prints

I'm using Octave transparent ABS, but just to be sure I have also created a mason jar full of ABS glue using the failed prints, and they completely melt in acetone. So I'm positive that I'm working with ABS. I'm baffled how the printer keeps failing around the same point, and my only theory is that ...

Consistent air prints

I recently purchased a reel of transparent ABS from Octave (having great luck from their other color filament), and I have been using it to print out a Raspberry Pi Gameboy and NES enclosure with great initial results. However, for certain parts, my printer keeps failing, and ends up air printing at...

Re: Clogged extruder block

I brought the whole extruder head to the dealer. The gear teeth had still some hard filament between. He cleaned the gear teeth with a steel brush and scratched it clean with some sharp tools. A toothbrush is too soft for cleaning. Thank you for THIS! After going through 2 new nozzles and still get...

Clogged extruder block

Does anyone out there have any advice for a clogged extruder block (not nozzle). I had gone through about 3kg of ABS filament (Octave) without any trouble until the last couple of weeks, when my extruder started extruding unevenly (gaps in extrusion) on the first initial layers, and then would stop ...

Re: Zim Does the Make Torture Test

I know that this is a really old topic but if any of you all have printed this part in the past, what kind of support settings have you used? I can't seem to get comparable results as the ones shown above. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: printer is disconnected

I am an Afinia owner and I recently had a similar issue where I had to abort printing due to excessive warping of the print causing the extruder head to strike the print, and upon trying to initialize the printer I got the same dreaded "printer is disconnected" error. I tried reinstalling drivers, r...

Re: Greetings from Ypsilanti, MI

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies! I will be sure to go through the older posts and do my homework but am relieved that the software is common for UP! and Afinia as I can't seem to find any large online communities for Afinia users. Also, thank you for the advice on keeping multiple software version...

Greetings from Ypsilanti, MI

First of all, I am not an UP! 3D owner but rather an Afinia H-series owner (although my understanding is that both printers are effectively the same with some minor differences). I currently work at a small charter school as a media specialist and I have personally purchased my Afinia with the hopes...
