HI all-
Where can I find a supplier of 4mm heat resistant glass to replace perf board on my UP! Plus?
Thanks.

I have been using standard picture frame float glass on all my printers with no breaks due to heat (only dropping metal objects seems to break it), bought at the local picture framing store.

I was the same until I broke all my sheets in about a month. Some sheets seem to suffer fatigue over time and them just spontaneously snap. I had one kind enough to suddenly crack while over my laptop. My screen still has the scarsDrewPetitclerc wrote:I have been using standard picture frame float glass on all my printers with no breaks due to heat (only dropping metal objects seems to break it), bought at the local picture framing store.

Borosilicate glass is a special glass , it has much quartz , near 0% thermal expansion . I use thermo fusion glass black 3 mm. to absorb temperature , you can find it in a stained glass shop or store . I thing this cain of glass is a borosilicate . This are specifications

Hiya,
I bought a couple of plates of 3mm Borosilicate 130 x 140mm from..
http://www.chiswellfireplaces.com
They were £15 each but work very well indeed, with UHU Purple-to-white.
Cheers!

News on my £15 borosilicate plates.
Arrived at my workshop yesterday to find my print finished perfectly but the glass plate cracked down the middle I could see from the bottom that the mini-rafts had actually torn small pieces out of the surface of the glass as well. The print was 6 parallel pieces about 110mm long so it was quite a big ask for the Mini although I'd done precisely the same print twice before on the same plate. I was using UHU Purple glue and have swapped out the original temperature switch for a 90 degree one. Just goes to show you can over-cook even the most robust setup.
I've found that the UHU glue works very well, so long as you don't build up to thick a layer over successive prints. Also it's worth giving it a quick wipe with Isopropyl alcohol, just to smooth the surface out.
My recommendation: scrape and wash off the glue at least once every two or three prints.
Cheers!
