SPAM reports to Admin

Post by eyUP » Fri Jul 13, 2012 9:08 am

To make it easier for the Administrators to remove SPAM users+posts, send a link below (which can then be removed when the SPAM is removed)
PS - Could someone make this a sticky or announcement please ?

I run a phpBB forum and the best way I found to stop these people was to add a secret Pin number to the registration form.
The pin number could be posted somewhere, maybe on the main website. I force our users to send an email asking for it (works OK if you have access to email 24/7)
It seems like a pain but we never get any spam ... life is too short to be looking out for this utter cr@p and removing it every day!

Maybe all 800+ of us forum members should each send a private message telling them what each of us think of the crap they post on our forum. And if they have a website with an email contact maybe all 800+ of us should send them an email telling them what we think about them pushing their crap on our forum.

Unfortunately they won't care...they will never see a PM as they'll never login here again, they've done their 'business' and moved on.
Many of them look like this anyway!

If we all end up going to their website then we're playing into their hands...all they want is as many clicks as possible to increase the value of a domain or pick up advertising revenue.

True.
It's just so frustrating that they can hijack a legitimate forum. Ignore my suggestion as ranting from an old man who is sick of crap.
