Small nuts and bolts
Small nuts and bolts
Hi all
A few days ago some one on the forum asked about small nuts and bolts.
So, here are a few: From the left, the 1st is a purchased 3mm diameter nylon nut and bolt. Next is a printed 2.75mm diameter set, then a 2.5mm set and on the right is a 2.25mm set. All nuts do screw on to the bolt securely. The images are taken with the raft removed but no clean up of the models done.
To show the sizes of the three printed sets I have added them with the measurement caliper which unfortunately the camera could not capture the reading which was 2.25mm.
The ruler measurement gives some idea of sizes: So, in answer to the query about the Up!Plus having the ability to print small nuts and bolts, it's a definite YES!

Re: Small nuts and bolts
Hi again
... even smaller now. Today I printed the same nut and bolt, but this time with a 2.00mm diameter. So, yes, the Up! will successfully print useable M2 nuts and bolts.
I won't bother uploading a photo. Just look at the previous ones that I posted, then step back further from your monitor until they look smaller. That is what the M2 nut and bolt look like.
I must bolt now.

Re: Small nuts and bolts
They are very impressive. Have you just used a thingiverse type source or did you draw these up yourself?
Re: Small nuts and bolts
Hi Matt
I downloaded some nuts and bolts from Thingiverse, then imported the ones I wanted use into Google Sketchup, where I modified the bolt head to a knurled circle and added a groove for a screw driver, then converted it back to STL format. The rest is history.
