UP Software 2.17

Post by Tiertime-Joseph » Fri Aug 21, 2015 10:25 am

Hello UPPers,

We have new UP software 2.17 available to download, and here is the release notes:

1. Thin wall printing support. UP will try its best to print thin wall instead of ignoring it.
2. Build table leveling can adjust the value between -1mm and 1mm.
3. Added ABS+ option for new material.
4. Fix bugs for surface closure when printing at 0.1mm
5. New Help files for multiple languages in the installation directory.
6. New UP3 model for printhead cover for UP BOX. You can find the UP3 files in UPExampleUP BOX Spare Parts. Printhead Cover-V4.UP3 and Printhead Extruder Bracket-V3.UP3
We recommend all the UP BOX owners upgrade the printhead cover for better user experience.

7. Various bug fixes.

Let us know how you like the new upgrade, and hope the new options can offer better printing experience for all of you.

Thank you and happy printing.

Joseph

I just installed v 2.17 and I am noticing that the rafts are much larger than they used to be, which unfortunately means that the maximum build size is smaller now.

@mb20music: From what version are you upgrading? Version 2.15 also had bigger rafts, I didn't notice 2.17 has bigger ones than 2.15.

But: try to print your model at the borders you will see the raft will be cut off. So you can print exactly the build size of your Up printer. :D

Thanks for this one!!!! It works great.

Can you share some details about ABS+? What are the printing temps with this material?

I don't see option to print 0.1mm, min is 0.15mm (usually I don't need anything below 0.25 but today I had a real need for 0.1mm :( ) .. the printer is up plus 2 - 91387 (not sure if that's serial no or firmware version)... how to get down to 0.10mm ?

Having used a few different 3D printers now, I would suggest that the Up software is really letting the printer down. I have an Up Box and whilst I am having a few teething issues it is a great printer and deserves a much better user experience on the software side.

I would suggest that pp3dp have a look at AutoMaker for inspiration... http://www.cel-robox.com/downloads/ Whilst I wouldn't expect the ridiculous levels of control in AutoMaker the layout and button positions have been painstakingly thought out and is being constantly developed.

I would be happy to work with pp3dp on developing the software as I am sure many other would.

This! So much this ! I totally agree that it deserves a much better software package. I have been through a lot with this printer in the short time I have had it and always reflect on how this software does not compliment the printer. Here is to hoping !

@arhi
Thanks for the comments.

ABS+ has similar temperature as regular, but shinier look and greater strength for the printed parts.
0.1 is only for UP BOX, not for mini and plus 2. Sorry.

@steelmans, and Acis
Yes, agreed. Our engineering team is working on the software side, will have something out soon......

Any news on the new software? A bit of feedback, screenshot or a feature or two would help keep the community engaged.
