Post by OwenSparks » Wed Oct 31, 2018 7:42 am

Hi folks.

When will the X5 be available in the UK please?

I asked a month ago and was told it was a few weeks away...

Many thanks, Owen S.

Hi.

OK another month has passed.

The X5 was "a few weeks away" in September but since then we've not heard anything. Has this printer been cancelled or is it just delayed? If delayed then until when? This is holding up a purchasing decision here, so if it's not going to be available soon or ever then please let me know so I can move on. If there is good new then that'd be great.

Many thanks,

Owen S.

Hi Owen,

Sorry for your waitting ,according to the marketing plan from sales department, X5 maybe still need 2 or 3 months to get into market, the printer not been cancelled just delayed due to various reasons.
So you can adjust your purchase plan according to the time.

Best Regards
Brook

Hi Brook.

Any further news on the X5?

2 or 3 months from the beginning of Jan would mean end of Feb or sometime in March?

Cheers,
Owen S.

Re: X5 ABS problem

Post by ggpel0 » Fri Sep 27, 2019 11:40 am

We have just received our x5 and have already noticed a couple problems.
The platform auto change mechanism works well and it did continuous print until the first failure.
First problem was after about 10 hours the y axis stop mechanism became loose and would not activate the micro switch. This was due to striped mounting screw sockets on the arm. This unit calibrates itself each print and tests all the limits. Unfortunately it will not print until all limits are activated. The included usb has a file for the arm and I was able to manually activate the limit switch to begin printing although the file does not work correctly and came out very poor. It turns out that this file is not up to date and the supplier got me a new and very different file for printing. This one has cut out for nuts to be installed.
The second issue is that this units print head cooling fan blows directly on the print and has no bypass mechanism like previous models. This means the unit cannot print with ABS without severe warping. The shroud cannot be blocked off as the air goes around the outside of the print head blowing on the print and causing warping as well.

If anyone has created a different shroud or solution for this i would love to hear from you. Our school spent a lot on this and have a great deal of ABS to use.
