Printing PETG with the UP300

Post by Jogy » Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:01 am

Hello,

I have tried to print PETG, after several layers it starts all the time to fail. Is here someone else who is using already PETG
I have copied a PLA profile and changed only the Temperatur to 235 and 50 degree.

Which build surface are you using, and when you say it fails - maybe describe how?

I take the one with the holes, it sticks very well. after the 4th layer the Filament stops, you can see marks from the transport gear.

As you can see the Filament transport stops.

Same here.
I've put the filament roll on the top without the guide and it is now "working" .I have very beautiful print of huge parts but the raft is merged with the part whatever the setting I use...:-(
With the filament guide, it is ok for small parts but it is failing after a while for large parts.

I've printed few PETG parts raftless on the UPBOX using a UP300 PLA extruder and they went very well.

That I can confirm, small parts are possible to print. Bigger parts it fails.....
I'm using the ABS Head

Yeah, the ABS Extruder is bad at low temps (heat-soak softens the filament before it gets to the extruder gear and then it jams). You really need the new PLA extruder with the insulated internals.

Hello, I have the PLA extruder as well, are you using the PLA for PETG?

I had trouble printing PETG using ABS extruder, I now use PLA extruder and have no problems, the PLA extruder has a teflon tube that insulates the filament from the heat and ABS extruder does not.
PLA extruder should solve your problems.
