Printhead Entombed

Post by Ramatu » Sun Jan 13, 2019 2:59 am

My printhead was entombed after a print. It seems like this may be a common issue as it happened with a previous Up Mini 1. Interestingly, the raft that I pulled off of the failure seemed thicker than a normal raft. The print at first seemed overextruded, but I don't think it was. I believe the raft became unattached mid-print due to lack of adhesion. I've already ordered a replacement printhead.

My questions:
1. Has anyone else had this issue?
2. Does anyone, or the mods, have advice to reclaim this hot head?

Thanks

Is that PLA or ABS? If ABS then acetone will dissolve it eventually!

Fortunately, it is ABS. I like that idea -- do you think it would damage, or compromise, the wire insulation or sleeves?

Either way, I'll give it a try this evening and post the results as soon as I have something. There's only one way to go from here.

Thanks

After 20 hours in 2 separate baths (dilution and evap), here are the results.

Now she just has to print herself some new clothing.
