Preheat is INSANELY slow!

Post by titaniumapple » Mon Aug 15, 2016 1:55 pm

Hi, my Up Mini 2 is ridiculously slow at Preheating - we're talking 0.1C every 30 seconds! My Up Box preheats in about 3-5 mins - this takes about 45-1hr to preheat!!

Why is it so slow and is there a way to speed it UP?

Thanks

Is it not heating or not displaying the correct value?
It should heat up faster than that. If the problem is confirmed, contact your reseller for support.

I noticed our Up Mini 2 was pre-heating very slowly too.

I've now given up pre-heating it and just jump straight to the print.

How quickly should it be heating up? It clearly only uses wires embedded in the print platform.

Also what is the problem, the heating element? And is it possible to just send off for a new part rather than send back the whole printer?

Thanks

Hello,

If tried to use UP mini2 with UP studio and old software UP 2.xx, this may be due the difference in the way the 2 software store material profile. May be you need to go to UP Studio to change the material and then go to UP 2.18 and try again.

My preheating is still ridiculously slow - it takes about an hour to preheat! Plus on larger parts they warp really badly at the edges (because it isn't hot enough) and the max temperature during printing is 88% (not 100%). Is it a faulty heater? What is the solution?

I don't want to send it away as I am using it, I would rather fix it myself with a new part and instructions - because although it takes a LONG time to preheat I am still using it daily and can't afford to have it away for repair.

Tiertime - can you send me a new part?

Thanks

Same here. I guess the Up Mini 2 takes forever to preheat due to a small power supply?
Not sure if it's a good comparison but my Up box takes 5 minutes to reach the temp while up mini never reaches 100%, more like 82-92%.
If you look at the powers supplies for both...
Didn't actually compare real data on the power supplies but i saw a lot of people complaining about the preheat time.

Yeah I think it's bad design - and no reply from Tiertime...

I wonder if they have a video of how quickly it is supposed to heat up?

Received an UP Mini 2 as a 2017 Christmas gift. Still suffers from this issue to this day.

I watch the bed temperature as its heating, and as previously described, it takes minutes to increase a single degree C. The print starts when it reaches 60C no matter how long I set the pre-heat time for.

My ABS prints warp badly, despite setting 45min preheat time, and closing the fan vent on the print head. The bed doesn't reach 100% temperature until 2 hours into a print.

I would appreciate advice from Tiertime on how to resolve this issue.

Regards,
Damien.

If that's the case then that printer is faulty. Many people use mini 2 for ABS, it's what the printer is good at...
