Has anyone tried (succeded) putting a magnetic build plate in place of the perferated one? it works great on my other printer, and they work great, but i am not sure how to calibrate the nozzle hight if i install them.

Not tested with the magnetic build plate,
But if you can install one, Just adjust the nozzle height manually

Re: magnetic build plates
Hi.
YES! As it happens I've just started using one on an Upbox+ ...
So far I've tested it with PETG with the standard extruder and with PLA on the new PLA extruder.
I set the height manually just by making it start way above the bed and slowly incrementing down.
Results are wonderful. Raftless printing and effortless model removal. Highly recommended.
I used the ealsy-pealsy (sp?) 2 part system. Only thing I changed from the standard TT PLA setting was to increase the bed temp to 60 deg.
Hope that helps,
Cheers, Owen S.

Sure thing. Just don't try it with ABS! I've set bed temp to 60 with PLA and that seems to work well. One other thing is I started having dislocation problems. A quick wipe of the bed with acetone has made it much more effective. Tried it on a standard TT smooth board and that also helped.

I considered it, to mill out pockets in one of the perf boards and glue in some Ø4mmx1mm N35UH magnets and order spring steel sheets. One of the vendors on ali would offer to cut custom sizes for a markup.
But decided to replace the bed in its entirety instead.

Btw, if you're in the US you might want to try this https://www.mcmaster.com/7301t21
Its supposed to be good for 250F/120C but I can't get it and test as I'm not in the US.
