Nozzle temp reading 398, bed temp 127!

Post by Brypar » Fri Feb 09, 2018 10:07 pm

There seems to be an error with my printer that I can't clear. Upon initialize the bed temp and nozzle temp are through the roof but both are at room temp. I'm not quite sure what the issue is. I don't want to go replacing parts without knowing first what the issue is and whether it can be cleared.

This sounds like an open circuit in the temperature probe. It's unusual that both would be broken at once, so maybe some wires got unplugged or the circuit that reads the values is hosed.

But the first thing I'd check is make sure no cables are broken and everything is properly plugged in.

Hi there,

Probably caused by the loose or malfunction cable, try to reinsert and fasten the cables as figures show below.

Figure 1. Replug the extruder ribbon cable.

Figure 2. Replug the same type of ribbon cable beneath the build plate.

Please give it a try. If your problems still not solved, you might need new cables.

I don't know if it helps anymore, but I worked out what caused mine.

I left a fan unplugged. As soon as I plugged it in, all went back to normal.

Which is weird, because I thought I'd done that once or twice before when printing abs without a shroud.

Unplugged print head fan, plugged again, temps went down.
Weird.

I did check all cables, everything is in place , unplugged, plugged back in...

How can a cable go bad if everything looks in mint condition? There's no sign that there's a tear or disconnect anywhere in the system.

Even weirder that both the bed and print head are doing it.

On the print head, i was thinking to change the heater assembly but now it doesn't make any sense anymore.
