UP BOX Fan Shroud?

Post by Owen Sparks aka Marksman » Fri Jun 24, 2016 10:22 am

Howdy folks.

In a fit of stupidity I've just killed another stepper motor fan by missing the filament feeder hole in the head by an inch and instead feeding it into the spinning fan blades.

I presume that I'm not alone in doing this as the fan seems to be a readily available spare.

So my question is has anyone drawn up a shroud or feeder extension for prevent this from happening that they're willing to share? If not I'll throw something together.

Cheers,

Owen S.

Printed and installed.

It fits perfectly (using the original screws), doesn't need any support (so no post print faffing about), does not restrict airflow and does prevent numpty fan destruction as advertised.

Only minor downside is a slight whine as the air passes through it.

All in all a great result, thanks Gordon37.

Cheers,

Glad it help, it's not my design tho
I would do a face lift of it to reduce the overall height. I think a mesh with hole less than 1.7mm will do.
Just feeling lazy about it :x

I've printed and installed this as well and found the whine got a lot better by slightly loosening a couple of the screws.
