Bed heat mod with dual temp and more light!

So, after reading the different threads about modding the temp of bed and after suffering from quite a few warping issues on big prints. I decided to go ahead and mod mine, yet I wanted to be able to keep the original temp for PLA and PET+ so I decided to install a switch that would allow me to change between the two or to completely turn it off for flexible filament like the NinjaFlex.

I also took the opportunity to install 2 IKEA LED light strips that I had laying around, the lack of light while printing was really bugging me since I bought it (the work area where I have it at doesn't have the best ambient light).

So as I mentioned after looking at other threads and seeing there were a few ports I could use from the board I decided to go ahead and do it was cleanly as possible, to my surprise when I opened it up the port had no pins (so just the wholes in the board) on a lucky moment I had some spare header pins laying around which I was able to use.

So here's a list of what I used: Here's some pics of the whole process and the final results.
Complete Album http://imgur.com/a/IkKyA (sorry but adding that many images to the thread is a real pain).

I also printed some clips:

This will hide/route the cable from the bottom of the bed all the way to the top where the switch is in case anyone is interested I'll be more than happy to upload them to thing verse.
And also printer the temps so I known which one is selected, middle is OFF.

To sum final results:

Hope you'll find it useful and feel free to leave any comments. :D

Hi Highvoltag3,

It would be useful to know whether you are modding an UP Plus or UP Mini.

I guess it may help if this "Look my Mod" section was split by the site designer into machine types. As it may just be me, but often mods seem to be described without reference to the version of printer.

I am assuming Highvoltag3 is referring to an Up Mini as he talks about illuminating the print area.

cheers

Peter

If you click on the image he posted, you will see clearly that it is for an UP! mini...
