Re: Calculator For Temp Mods

Hi,
Just wondering, my max temp shows as 270 C.
When I use 11.1 ohms on a potentiometer to try to get 230 C, the cold temp shows 53.7.
The excel calculator says cold temp for 260 C with the 11.1 ohm drop should be around 43.9.
It's a 10 C difference, which I think is linear.
Is it safe to say that my 11.1 ohms drop actually gives 240 C then instead of 230 C?

The previous table says 260 degrees with 0 ohms (unmodified) and 230 degrees with 11 Ohms. This is a difference of 30 degrees.
The additional resistor only generates an offset to a given set point. In your case the set point is 270 degrees, so the formula is 270 - 30 = 240.

The thread is already pretty old, nowadays most people use software temp mod rather then fiddling around with resistors. I too used initially 11 Ohms and then I switched to the software temp mod.
