Problem with Up! Software on Mac

Post by pocketkk » Sat Jan 07, 2012 11:21 pm

The software loads correctly and I am able to set the height of the platform so I know it is communicating to my Up but after I have loaded the calibration model and hit print the software crashes. I this has happened repeatedly and I have been unable to print at all. I have tried multiple versions of the Up Software and each of them crashes at the same moment. I am in the middle of updating OS X (It hasn't been that long but I want to eliminate that as an issue). Any other ideas? Anyone else run into this? I am running Lion and a 3 year old Macbook Pro.

Tried it with my wife's macbook and had the same result. Crashes after hitting ok on the print dialog.

It is working. Not sure what did it. Just started from the beginning and this time the software didn't crash. Fingers crossed!

Hi there
I'm having the exact same problem as you :(

When you say "Just started from the beginning" what does that mean - like did you un-install the software then re-install it?
And what's the best way to un-install the up software on a mac?

Thanks so much :)
Jane

Hey guys, just a wee update.
I re-started my machine, then tried to print and it crashed again. Then i started up the UP software and saved the file as a different name right before print, and then it worked!

Hopefully that may help someone else. Lets hope it keeps working :)

Odd. Still, you may want to send a bug report to PP3DP, perhaps they can figure it out. If two people exeprience similar problems, this might be worth looking into.

Hi guys,

We will test the software on more mac systems, and update to V1.4 ASPS.

Hi, I am unable to use the mac software -- each time it crashes when I try to print. It fails with the stator model and any model I tried.

Here's the crash trace.

Can someone help please?

Few more details: UP version 1.3 for Mac, and I have Snow Leopard OS X.

I had repeated crashes with Snow Leopard on my MacBook when I first got the printer so I just gave up and put a dedicated Win7 machine on it.

Julia, thanks for the response! I am now trying with 64-bit Win7 installed on a VirtualBox VM on my Mac.

I was able to initiate the print process for stator model without problems, no crash. But the printer has been with the intermittent red/green front panel light for about an hour now, but no printing has started.

How long does the initialization take? How do I know if something went wrong? The UP software responds to commands, it didn't freeze.

Just tried with a different model, and it worked!

I noticed the printer did not position the model in the center of the board, as it was in the plan. Is this a known issue? Should I manually recenter the head before starting the process?

If this is a Mini it will be fixed hopefully in the next version.

Just for info. I have used the 1.3 version on Mountain Lion without any issues. I have switched to 1.18 because I need the leveling feature for my Mini but I did quite a lot of printing attempts with the Mac version before that. Worked fine.
