Raftless Bed Levelling

Post by steelmans » Mon Nov 14, 2016 12:50 pm

Does anyone know if the software bed levelling now works on raftless printing? For example when using the "flex" build surface on the UP Box?

I didnt think it did. I thought the levelling only works if the raft is used. Would love to be wrong though!

Just spoken to Tiertime. auto levelling only works with a raft. Such a shame.

The Raft helps compensate for some of the unevenness around the print surface, because the spring puts pressure and flexes the board a bit.

Anyway, the easiest thing to do is to just manually offset the auto level detected by 0.1mm ~ 0.2mm ie.
Auto Level Height - 169.5mm
Manually Set Height - 169.6mm ~ 169.7mm

Basically when I print PETG or TPU I always bump up the detected height to get a better hold.. especially since I'm using BuildTak which comes loose easily if the print isn't smudged enough!

Use the manual setting wizard in Up Studio to assist with the point offsets, it's actually quite convinient.
