Buzzer volume

Post by SteveW » Thu Feb 23, 2012 7:50 pm

So, I've just started using my UP! 1.1 from x-object, and I'm really enjoying it! My one only real niggling issue right now is how loud the buzzer is. I'm in an apartment building, and the loudness of the buzzer I could see starting to tick off the neighbours, so I haven't been running my prints as late at night / early in the morning as I might like.

Has anyone had any experience with muffling / removing / swapping the buzzer?

Post a tape on the buzzer, the volume will decrease. It's a black cylinder on the right side of CPU board, the size is about 10mm.

Thanks! I put about 5 layers of duct tape over top and the buzzer is maybe half the volume it used to be. I think it is a better volume (for me) now.

I was also considering a small plastic cap to put over top to muffle it some more. Thankfully I have a nice 3D printer to make that for me if I ever decide to go that route ;).
