I reckon having a proper print preview/simulation would cover this issue and others. How about a warning when there is a wall too thin

Re: Wish List
True that would help, but then you would have to hope you visually see the error. Maybe they do implement a visual print preview they could have a message/error text box in the display too. If I could only choose one though I would probably like the visual simulation, especially to see how the support would print

Re: Wish List
This would be best covered with a simple layer viewer that showed the resulting extruder path... Similar to what every other slicer software has.

In the Status box, In the Maintenance section of the menu, could there be a space inserted between the C and the word heating, and maybe heating to be capitalised so that it doesn't read as Cheating. Also a degrees sign (°) before the C would be nice. This aught to be done for both the nozzle and platform temperatures.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Wish List
One thing that would really be helpful is to have a way of seemlessly continuing when a spool runs out. Having to change the spool means there is always an amount of plastic wasted. Maybe something like a double feed extruder would do the job?
Re: Wish List
I have changed several times the spool while printing, of course you have to be waiting next to the printer to put the new spool, but you don't need to stop the print: when it's going to run out, take the new filament and put it in the head extuder and the UP goes on printing.Wolfy wrote:One thing that would really be helpful is to have a way of seemlessly continuing when a spool runs out. In the 2-3 times I did this you can't say where the filament was replaced. I wish this hepls you.
Edit: does anybody know something about the improvements list? Thanks.

Re: Wish List
Great List. Thanks for providing awesome listmr6k wrote:I searched this forum for a general wish list area and could not find one, maybe I did not look hard enough.
Anyway, having used the printer for about 6 months and being generally very happy with its performance I thought I would place here my wish list. I guess the software developers look at this site and hope they may consider my wishes, some of which I know are in common with others who "lurk" here.
So here it is
1) Ability to turn ALL Support off.
2) Ability when adjusting Z axis, where model goes below the platform, to only print that part of the model above the platform.
3) Continue showing temperatures in maintenance window after job starts printing.
4) User adjustable Extruder head temperature.
5) User adjustable platform temperature + ability to turn platform heater off while printing.
6) Ability to reset total used material to zero. (Only way at present seems to be to reload the software).
7) Show total layers while printing as well as time, (This together with layers printed shows better the progress).
8) When showing remaining printing time, start as print starts not before extruder has warmed up.
9) Put current table/nozzle height back in maintenance window. (It is easier to see where the height is rather than now only seeing it when about to print.)
10) Include a real solid fill mode. (Fill as solid as outer layers)
11) Remove bug that sometimes cause program to abruptly close if loadinmg more than one object.(Or is it just me!)
cheers
Peter

Re: Wish List
How about just printing thin walls rather than just marking when they are too thin. Reprap has printed thinwalls and single sided walls (technically open solids but completed planes) for over 16 months now. It would be nice if we could print anything off thingiverse .. and for me it would be great if I could print architectural models without having to thicken a few hundred walls.
Re: Wish List
Please incorporate this. It would save so much time when orientating an object or allow to input an exact measurement that would automatically uniform scale!Steelyd wrote:Undo or step back function for move, rotate, and scale.
Re: Wish List
A bigger working area would be nice! At least twice the size....
Re: Wish List
Tracking for multiple filament rolls. It's a great feature in a small printer to know how much is left on the filament roll but now you have colour choices it would be great to be able to track how much is left on the roll. Maybe you could store an entry for each colour or have it so we can tell the software how much is on a roll when we put it on ... in which case it would be good if it reminds us how much is on the last roll when we do a swap so we can write that on the roll. This way I will always know how much white, black and yellow I have left.
Re: Wish List
Two more to add to the list - just things that have bitten me:
1) Additional feature - "be careful mode"
With fast pans from one side to the other, if it has just extruded on this layer, dodge areas of extrusion or move Z like when it is printing the first layers of the raft. The little bit of leftover extrusion on the nozzle occasionally catches on delicate parts and breaks them. I think I've excluded warping from the cause of this, however a print that shows it quite clearly (and could be warping) is http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34253 - rotate so the letters are the right way up and print; it catches on part of the N and Y during various flybys as they're angled and unsupported so the over-hang extrusion curls up.
2) Bug fix: If USB is left connected, the driver sometimes adds random commands to the print and extrudes or jumps around breaking my model.
I haven't figured out exactly when, but if I power-off, wait 10 seconds, power-on, initialise, print, disconnect USB it always works. It may be correlated with the computer going into sleep mode.

This is probably the known problem to do with USB earthing. I found the post where someone had fixed it here but it appears as though the image links are broken2) Bug fix: If USB is left connected, the driver sometimes adds random commands to the print and extrudes or jumps around breaking my model.

Re: Wish List
* real search return instead of:
"The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: support.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards."
*calculated support visible in the preprint view
*log file with each print. This log file must at least contain the settings known by the software. Plus details for log, given in by the operator.
Maybe all this has been posted already but since I get no real search return, here you go...

I am concerned that your UP plus users wish list is being ignored.
Here is a condensed list compiled from the past 6 months. Can you please let us know which of these subject you are actively working on. I list the wishes in the months they were submitted, bearing in mind that many were also submitted prior to May 2012.
May 2012
1) Ability to turn ALL Support off.

10) Include a real solid fill mode. (Fill as solid as outer layers)
11) Remove bug that sometimes cause program to abruptly close if loadinmg more than one object.(Or is it just me!)
12) Properly put support under edges and vertices, not just faces (see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=802 )
13) Randomize the start point for each layer, to correct the "seam" sometimes experienced when printing tall thin-walled tubes.
14) add a + & - to the MOVE function, so you can set the distance and move it in BOTH directions without having to constantly change the setting. So you'd set a distance then be able to move "X" in plus and minus, Y in plus and minus, z in plus and minus, without having to constantly change to a positive and negative number.
15) Undo or step back function for move, rotate, and scale.
16) Reverse the zoom scroll wheel function.
17) Ability to position table and print head while waiting for everything to heat up for a print.
18) If a print is cancelled before the job has actually started then undo the amount of material deducted from the maintenance menu, as it has not actually been used.
July 2012
I guess reading others wishes the most important remain,
Ability to turn ALL Support off.
User adjustable Extruder head temperature.
User adjustable platform temperature + ability to turn platform heater off while printing.
Include a real solid fill mode.
Overcome twin thin walls where outer solid wall should exist
August 2012
19) How about a warning when there is a wall too thin on an object to be printed
I reckon having a proper print preview/simulation would cover this issue and others.

23) Tracking for multiple filament rolls. Maybe you could store an entry for each colour or have it so we can tell the software how much is on a roll when we put it on
Conclusion
As Julia stated in July, the prime wishes seem to be, in order of “desire” :-
Include a real solid fill mode.
Overcome twin thin walls where outer solid wall should exist
User adjustable Extruder head temperature.
User adjustable platform temperature + ability to turn platform heater off while printing.
Ability to turn ALL Support off.
And of course a mechanical solution to the UP mini platform levelling issue.
I have not tried 1.18 software, mainly due to the apparent negative reports on this site, but I get the impression that none of these wishes have been implemented, and all the manufacturers effort has gone into a software “bodge fix” for the Up mini platform levelling, which really needs a mechanical fix. This is a great shame. My observation is that the manufacturer is now attempting to “con” UP mini users who have unlevel platforms into accepting a dubious fix that they claim means the printer meets its specification, when it does not..
Edward, please remember your faithful UP plus customers who seem to have been deserted in favour of the rush to cover up the mini design fault..
Cheers
Peter

Re: Wish List
I have a vote for being able to print 'thin' walls in one pass! It's hard to imagine the Up not having this when my other printers have had it for a long time, and the Up printer shines in this area (with looking at its support single pass walls!). To be honest, I just recently found out it couldn't do it when a print needed it, so yeah...please!!

Re: Wish List
Please, put the STOP button far from the rest of buttons. Yesterday I lost a 18 hours print, after 10 hours printing. Yes it was my fault, but I would like that button wasn't next to PLACE button...
