Question about model numbers!

Post by PrimusPrime » Tue Dec 09, 2014 2:56 am

Hello, first time poster here, I just recently purchased an UP! Mini and I'm in the market for a Plus 2. I have two potential units, both lightly used in mind.

The details are:

UP! Plus 2
Model Number: 3DP-14-4A
Very little time on the unit.
$700

UP! Plus 2,
Model Number: 3DP-14-4D
One test print ran on it, comes with 3 rolls of ABS, he wants $950

Are there any significant differences between the two printer models? Thanks for the help! :)

Well, I went with the cheaper option. I personally couldn't find any details on what the differences, if there are any, between the two models.

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply.

3DP-14-4A is for UP Plus, our first generation of UP Plus series.
3DP-14-4D is for UP Plus 2.

You can see the difference from the build plate. UP Plus 2 has an extra gadget at the further end of the build plate, for automatic leveling and height measurement.

Interesting... well I was worried that this was the case, but something doesn't make sense.

That's the URL to the printer I purchased, and, it most definitely has the automatic leveling and calibration features. Also, the label on the back of the printer shows it being an UP! Plus 2. The seller also gave me the amazon item number of his purchase (From about a year ago), which is B00E5OQEUC. I'm pretty sure it is an UP! Plus 2, but this model number discrepancy is somewhat unnerving, especially coming from the official source. I'll be getting the printer this friday, so, guess I'll find out for myself! :)

If everything else is ok with this printer, I think you made a very good deal ;)

Hi PrimusPrime,

Sorry for the delay.

Found out from our production team that there were some early UP Plus 2 mis-labelled as 3DP-14-4A. Functionality wise they were the same as early version of UP Plus 2 labelled as 3DP-14-4D.

Sorry for this is happening...

Joseph
