UP! Shorts upon powering up

Post by ata0921 » Sun Jul 28, 2013 5:47 pm

Anyone ever have an issue where the UP! shorts/powers down the moment you plug in the 4 pin power supply to the mainboard?

I've tried two different power supplies (LiteON N136) and both yield the same results. I'm afraid its the mobo...not really looking forward to having to buy a new one (mine as well buy a new printer at that point).

Any suggestions on what to inspect on the board? No visible signs of damage.

I'm probably not understanding you're situation correctly, but how could it power down when you plug it in if it didn't have power to begin with? Also, do you have the power switch in the off position (on the back of the printer) before you plug in the power supply?

Good point, pretty much it turns on for a second and then just cuts out. This is an UP! plus with the original board...so no power/initialize buttons anywhere.

my Up! used to short out when the 2 extruder heater wires would touch together due to my bad soldering job when i tried to repair them.

Gotcha, mine is a newer model, (bought last summer) I'm not too familiar with the older ones, sorry. Hope you find the fix :)
