Having problems removing support using 1.18

Post by craftekdesign » Sat Jul 13, 2013 11:33 am

The support layer (dense) just under the part is practically impossible to remove, as it seems fused to the part itself. I am using softwair 1.18 and it seems its worse than on previous versions. The odd thing is that if the part surface is on the bed level surface, the raft comes off easy, but if the part surface is somewhere above that, then the support dense layer is fused. I am using both UP factory filament and other brands, and its the same for both. any help is appreciated because I have gouged my hand too many times with the wood chisels trying to get this material off. Thanks

Try printing with the extruder head door open on the wind barrier after the raft has finished.

I agree with wackojacko...the wind barrier open when that happens usually resolves my issues. However, if you're using aftermarket ABS, a temperature switch can help a lot.

This is where I got mine, but there may be others out there: http://www.octave.com/p1173433163/Extru ... _info.html
