No ... I would be happy with a Plus 1.

I level once every 6 months and prefer mechanical to software leveling so that's one useless upgrade for me. It uploads faster but I have never sat there twiddling my thumbs desperate for it to upload a job faster so that's the other reason to get an Up 2 which is moot for me.

I'm in Australia, where is the best place to purchase an Up Plus 1 from.

Ideally, free postage is a big plus
choice of colours
lowest price (inclusive gst)
best customer service
quick delivery

all opinions are welcome

I haven't seen any UP! Plus 1st generation printers for sale online anywhere since the UP! Plus 2 has been introduced.
However, there is an alternative, the Afinia H-series printer is the same as an UP! Plus 1st generation. You can find them on
Amazon.com or octave.com.

Or of course there is the UP! Mini which you also might want to consider.

I have seen one or two places online based here in Australia.
The extra cost of the plus 2 actually pushes the purchase out of my budget.
I'm under the impression that most upers adapt to leveling the plate and setting the height without major disruption to life.
I'm sure I can learn.
I don't think that afinia's can be sold to Australia due to distribution. Please correct me if I am in error.

: )

Yup, you are right.... no Afinia here and wherever you buy from it will be coming form http://3dprintingsystems.com/. Ask them if they still have v1 printers. Personally, I agree - I prefer the V1 design and v1 price.

I have asked and they don't offer them as a product anymore, which is very disappointing.
Will have to shop around. I don't like the up plus 2 price either. Then again, a larger build volume (longer dimension) would be nice too.
Cheers

what convinced you to buy an Up!

I just got mine.

I have already started 2 software companies. To me 3d printing seems to be a disruptive trend. i wanted to experience it first hand while also having some fun, i also do some electronics for work and fun. I have no mechanical or industrial engineering experience, but played a bit open scad and seemed easy.

Got an UP! Cos I think is a "best value" one, simple and well finished, and relatively easy to get up to speed with. I wanted something I could get working without many headaches, also didnt't want to turn my office into a workshop/chemical lab.

Took me some years to decide when the right moment was to start cheking 3d printing. At some point considered building a prusa mendel, etc.

first impressions are much better than expected. The quality and robustness of the pieces seem great.

I am strugling with some prints, tunning, etc. But there are many use cases that just work from day one.

Also, the potencial through new materials, printing technologies, seems promising.

Lots of new product ideas keep poping up! Seems just so easy!!

I haven't bought one but planning to. Why Up 3D printer? Well, I'm new in this stuff and when I was Googling 3d printer here in Indonesia, Up 3D printer showed up the most. Most of printer suppliers here sell this brand. After reading the description and product information on their website, I found that Up 3D printer looks pretty fine, I love the design, its simplicity, the community (this forum) and it's cheaper :D
