Dropbox is free for up to 2GB of storage. You can get more if you either refer others to use the service or pay for the additional space. There are file transfer limitations, but unless you're transferring very large files all the time, you shouldn't hit the cap.

The whole point of thingiverse to share your models ... what exactly is the point of resharing on Dropbox? Am I missing something?

BTW Dropbox is a pain to share openly as it's not its design intent.

I agree with Roller,

Thingyverse is the traditional location for UP users to share their designs, if they so wish

Dropbox isn't really a good service for publicly hosting printing files, its more for personal file sharing. thingiverse is better. Aside from being a site already dedicated to 3dprinting and sharing print files it also has attribution to show who the file belongs to and what kind of liscense the author allows you to use the file with
