What are some pros and cons of the UP! Plus?

Post by Marbla » Fri Mar 22, 2013 5:05 pm

Hi!

What are the pros and cons of the UP! Plus 3D-printer. And how do I tackle those cons to make them pros?

One con I think about is the small build plate. When someone mentions it I simply say that it's very rare that you print something bigger and big prints require more material, which makes them cost more but aren't more useful than the small ones.

Please share your thoughts!

Well, on some occations it will be an option to glue the parts with superglue or acetone. Those will make the ABS parts melt together.
On other ocations rotating some items can be used to print them on the limited space.

Hi!
I like my UP! Plus for its superb small parts printing. Very stable and predictable on performance. Another one big plus for Plus - it looks and it is very nice and rigid. Open printing platform have sometimes pros sometime cons. I would like to have possibility to tune extrusion temperature in the software, I think that "PLA" or "ABS" mode not enough for non OEM material. Overall I like him :)

Been using Up Plus for 4 months. Overall is a great experience using it especially for someone like me who doesn't have a clue about 3D printing before. The software is super easy to understand and use. The 'only 'major' problem I have encountered is clogged nozzle which is easy to solve. I switched to alternative filament as it is cheaper and so far I've no problem. The only thing I dislike is the raft function. I only use it when printing big size model. For small and medium size model I just put the blue painter tape on the perfboard and rub a layer of glue stick to make sure the model stick to the surface.

My only wish now is there will be a Up Super Plus with bigger build volume, finger cross.
