I guess it could be said that I'm a professional Up user as I am part of a small R&D team in a specialised industry. We design and manufacture wireless Alarm/Call/Monitoring/Paging/Personnel Location systems, typically our products are deployed in Hospitals, Care Homes and Secure Accommodation establishments (otherwise known as Prisons )
We bought an 'Up2 Plus' almost 4 years ago and it's proved to be worth its weight in gold. I use it to model would-be new objects that may eventually be tooled for Plastic Injection Moulding. Given that the injection tools can cost 10's of £1000's one might imagine the cost of 'design errors'! Fact is, the 'Up2 Plus' cost very little to buy and has without doubt saved us many £1000's in time saving and avoiding design errors.
Prior to the 'Up' I used the alternatives, professional 3D print services whereby 3D parts were produced on machines costing £20,000 to £30,000 but I can tell you one thing... Yes the parts produced on the £30k printers are better... but that's 40 times the cost of an 'Up2 Plus', however, what they produce is not 40 times better!
Anyway, we have just bought an 'UP Box' for the greater build capacity and 'hopefully' better quality models. I have a mixed bag of comments and observations regarding the 'Box' but that's for other forum threads
I'll look forward to chatting with other UP users and sharing ideas
