Calibration for different materials

Post by sheng » Mon May 15, 2017 9:01 am

Hi,

I notice that there is a calibration test for dimensional accuracy in UP Studio. Does it need to be done for every different material. I have ABS and PC.

Thanks.

calibration is for the mechanics of the stepper motors not the material.

Does that mean that dimensional accuracy is not affected by shrinkage factor etc?

Also how can I print the calibration model? I cannot find the file location.

Yes shrink rate will effect the model but you DO NOT calibrate for that, you scale the model and adjust the model holes to achieve the desired results after shrink, calibrate corrects any offset in the stepper motors that will cause layers to shift giving your part a "lean" in any of the 3 directions and a length of travel corrections.

The calibration model is located were the program was installed usually in a folder called "Example" as "Calibrate96.UP3" in version 2.18 so probably the same for other versions.

Thanks for the clarification. I cannot find the Example folder in my installation.

I can find calibration model in TierTime official website, but not in UP3D site.
