PLA problems removing the raft/support

hello everybody.

I have just switched from ABS to PLA and I am struggling to remove the raft/support material from the printed objects. On the advice of the technical help from the company we got the machine from I played about with the settings for the support(Density 2 layers, Space 4 lines and Area 20mm squared), but it still proving problematic to remove the unwanted material.

i tried not printing the raft at all, but the job predictably detached from the perf board.

Does anyone have any advice/hints etc.
